Good article. The effect from using separate mics in a studio was very well explained. 
But, I think many audiophiles and especially those who are musicians know that there are always compromises when recording music.

With acoustic instruments and good engineering played back on a revealing system we get a pretty good representation of the original recording. But with electric instruments and today's high levels of compression, there's no semblance of the original.
