So sorry to revisit this old post, but I have an old Tripp Lite LC 1800a that is in good condition. It offers low and high voltage regulation. I checked its output: 129.9v at 59.9 hz, compared with my outlet at 117 v at 60 hz. It states that it has isobar isolated noise and spike suppression.
Inside the beast is a large transformer that is connected to a 3 circuits that are themselves composed of discrete components.
The unit I have, when plugged in has a low level AC hum, but I recall that is exactly how it performed when it was new.
I often wonder if it is something to use with my audiophile equipment? I'm inclined not to attempt it, as I value my equipment, and will by a more modern voltage regulator when money becomes available.
