Totem Hawks

I've not yet auditioned these speakers, but have heard a lot of positive feedback.  Recently, I was told the woofers fail a lot.  I've tried to search to see if this is accurate, but have not found any QC issues.  I've not yet contacted Totem, but will likely do so.  Does anyone here have any experience with the long term performance of these speakers?  Also, if a dust cover is punctured on the woofer does that affect the sound production?

Thanks

Fabulous speaker that sounds bigger than it is and capable of playing low bass down to 40hz if not below..  The woofer is a scanspeak revelator, arguably their best, and the tweeter is a higher end vifa.  Not sure about power handling and their ability to play very loud - they are on the low sensititivity side so you need a robust amp = maybe the QC issues you have heard may have resulted from too many people playing them with unfit amplifiers.
Good comment. They are nice at lower levels and in small spaces, but they just aren't big enough and dynamic enough to rock out in a larger room. An apartment dweller's friend for sure. Cheers,
Spencer
The Hawk is one of my favorite Totem speakers and I actually much prefer it over the Forrest.  The issue with the Hawk is that the driver used does have its limitations and if you aren't careful and love to crank your music, you have a good chance of overextending the driver and doing damage.  Keep them in a small room and they'll do great.  Put them in a larger space and you will struggle.

If you are a basshead or rocker, I would advise against these speakers.
