Toslink red light AT&T st light?

Well it's time for my dumb question of the day. What I want to know is when you hook up the toslink cable it will omit a red light at the end of the cable. So my question is when you hook up the AT&T st glass fiber cable should I see any light at the end of that cable? Please let me know.

I’m sure mine did on my Wadia with at&t optical output, but I had to switch to that output to make it happen and play music. Was a long time ago, and BTW it was the best sound of all the 3 or 4 outputs it had, but you had to get the widest bandwidth optical cable to do it justice.
