Tonearm recommendation
Hi,
I just acquired an Ana Mighty Sound “Sculpture A.3M” cartridge and seeking tonearm recommendation.
Selection of tonearms are Technics epa-500 with the H, M and G wand also Reed 3p 12” with Cocobolo wand.

What a dilemna, hah! 'longer is better', and Reed's on the fly Azimuth and VTA adjustability, I would want it on the Reed, however I see the mass of your 12" long Reed cocobolo wood is 18gms, it that ok for that modified cartridge/stylus? cartridge: 0.3mv signal, 40 ohm coil impedance, what SUT/Phono stage will you be using? To 'show' the cartridge around 400 ohms (10 x coil impedance) my FRT-4 SUT would use it's x-factor of 10.55, resultant 423 ohms, thus signal would be a bit low at around 3 mv. Separate control of gain and impedance would be better/may be needed. |
