time for a new DAC? like an Elgar Plus?

I've been happily listening to the Spectral SDR-3000/SDR-2000/Spectralink combo for many years now. Love that HDCD capability. But starting to wonder how the SDR-2000 competes with the best of today's DACs. Wondering in particular how a DCS Elgar Plus would compare to the SDR-2000 when used with my Spectral SDR-3000 transport. All thoughts and suggestions most welcome -- I have a thick skin!
