THORENS TD 318 worth repairing?

I purchased a TD 318 with a shure cartridge at an estate sale and it has 3 problems: it skips at the beginning of the record, it doesn't return, and sometimes one speaker only goes on when I jiggle the wires on the head. Anyone know the original price or present equivalent of this unit, and is it worth repairing. I also purchased a brand new Grado Prestige blue, should I use it with the Thorens or save it for my Technics 1300 MKII? Thank you.
