Thiel Owners

Guys-

I just scored a sweet pair of CS 2.4SE loudspeakers. Anyone else currently or previously owned this model?
Owners of the CS 2.4 or CS 2.7 are free to chime in as well. Thiel are excellent w/ both tubed or solid-state gear!

Keep me posted & Happy Listening!

Hi all

Thiel CS 7.2 owner from Thailand.

I actually inherit these Speakers from my brother in law.

I used Audia Flight Strumento No.1/No.4 to drive and in my opinion, they are perfect matching.

My system

good to see you all here.

Hi duramax747,

Good to see you!. cs7.2’s sound is incredible when I put Audia flight in. They are a bit sweet, warmth, huge sound stages and easy to listen for every kind of musics.

i can listen to it all day long during working at home.

@thieliste good to see you, too!!

I am sure that CS 3.7 is also one of the best Thiel speaker ever!!

@jafant my musical tastes is gearing more toward ‘Music Lover’ than ‘Audiophile’ My only sources are Roon and Tidal. I don’t have time to do Vinyl playing, even I know that it will sound great.

@duramax747 I recently listened to Wilson Audio Sasha Alexia V pairing with Boulder 866 all in one for 30 mins in several songs and I feel my system Audia Flight St1/ST4 + my CS7.2 sound better in term of bass , sound stage and dynamic and naturalization.

it might not be the apple to apple comparison but I think CS7.2 can match to any current speaker costs 30-40k USD easily. Just my thoughts. Not sure is anybody have different view?

I just would like to update on some changes of my system from the last 2 months.

I decided to change my source system from Cary DMS700 Streamer + MQA DAC to the separated Pachanko Mini SE as Computer Audio Transport + Mola Mola Tambaqui DAC.

I also changed my Music streaming Service from Tidal to Qobuz since my new Tambaqui DAC doesn’t support MQA.

With these 2 major changes, I can tell that the Sound Quality improves significantly in terms of Sound Stage, Mid range, details musical, 3D Dimension and Bass level. I’m so happy with my new system now.

My only problem now when the Bass improves significantly, my speaker dancing and moving (I put the mark on the floor and I can see my Thiel CS7.2 slightly moved)

I just invested in buy IsoAcoustics GAIA I (Thiel CS7.2 weights 160 Pounds each) So, I need to go with Series I of GAIA. I will get them by 2 days from now. Will keep you posted the result of GAIA I. (I currently use OEM Spikes + ISOClean TT-009 disc)

I’m 100% on Streaming Music and this system gives me very Analog sound.

Tomthiel,

I do 100% agree with you on MQA.

I actually did audition by myself using Cary DMS700. I primarily use Roon to play streaming musics and Pachanko is my Computer Audio Transport.(CAT)

I tested it by add both Tidal and Qobuz in the Roon. Played same songs and listened for quite sometimes. Songs on Tidal were all MQA while listened to FLAC lossless on Qobuz. I can notice rightaway that the MQA songs from Tidal were lacking of details and Transient.

One of Audiophile Groups in Thailand discussed about MQA and we think it's not 'Loseless' format. How can Folded MQA musics as good or better than Native Loseless FLAC/WAV?

For MQA, we need both Software and Hardware to completely decode and render to get 24/192. Without MQA DAC, you can get only 1 step unfold which is not recommended by MQA. (Software in Roon or Tidal can do only 1 step unfold)

That's why I'm really don't care about MQA DAC anymore. The MQA render process is to apply some 'Filter' to smoothen the songs. That gives the good and bad at the same time. If you notice. Good DACs in the market rarely have MQA Capability. (Mola Mola, DAVE, Naim....)

With the Internet Speed today, we can listen to Full Loseless songs on Qobuz without any bandwidth issue. That's why I'm moving from Tidal to Qobuz.

Jafant, Cary DMS700 is one of a good Streamer+MQA DAC in my opinion. Anyway, It can't compare to separated CAT + DAC. It's the good starting point for streamer but I recommended you to go Esoteric if you need CD Player + DAC.

Hi All,

I would like to update on my Thiel CS7.2 fitting Gaia I Floor standing.

When I opened the box, Gaia I comes with thread adaptors for the 3 most common thread sizes which fit the majority of speakers BUT not for Thiel Speakers. Anyway, I can request for the Threads fitting to Thiel Speaker, which I need to request from distributor. It take more than 1-2 months and I can’t wait for it.

Therefore, I had an idea to create custom ’Outrigger’ that can fit my speaker.

As you know, I have Audia Flight ST4+ST1 Power and Pre Amp. They also recently introduce hi-end floor stand speakers to the market using name ’Alare Labs’. I quite admire their products and designs. I used their design.

I started measuring the distance between each spike and draw the design manually. I brought the design to lathe factory near by and explained my design.

1 week later, I went and picked up the outriggers and test fit to the speaker. They are perfectly fit.

I used Galvanic flat black Painting and spray. So, they become black.

Here is some pictures that I fitted the Gaia I to Thiel CS 7.2 Speakers. Enjoy!!

Give me 1-2 weeks to listen and I will give you again Full review on the sound impact.

Hi All,

I'm quite busy and just have time to update you on the result of GAIA I Footer.

I am coming back to tell you the result of GAIA I Footer with My Thiel CS7.2

I put them on the Granite floor. I think the result is quite impressive for me.

The SoundStage is very stable. The positions of each component is a lot more precise and clear.

Bass is so tight and deeper. I really enjoy this set of GAIA I Footer and I believe this is very justify investment for me (Even they cost me the same to a good pair of bookshelf speakers in the market)

Really recommend this to the one who will put them on Granite floor.

I heard that the result of GAIA footer may not be good for carpet. However the result on the Granite floor are quite impressive (I assume the wood floor will give you a similar result to Granite’s)
