Thiel 1.2

Been a lover of British speakers for 50 years of listening.  Currently alternating between Quad ESL57’s and Harbeth SLH5plus as the mood strikes.

Picked up a pair of Thiel 1.2 for a song and am amazed at just how good they sound.  Lot’s different from my others but quite a gas to listen.  Maybe the word is fun!  And for next to nothing I really am pleased.

Anyone surprised?

My journey has had Magnepans, Martin Logans, Vandersteen, Dahlquist and others...and somehow I remember listening to the 1.2 and that memory was/is one of the best in my audiophile trip.  I later owned the 1.5 and 6 and remember the 1.2 the most fondly.  Of the speakers I have owned the Thiel 1.2, the Maggie 20 and the Martin Logan Sequel II seem to be the most remembered.  Perhaps the time of life or the wine I was drinking, but perhaps they hit that sweet spot of sounding like music.   We have all had Hi-Fi that sounded like Hi-Fi and the gear that sounded like music are the ones I remember most.  I had the 1.2 after some great live performances, from Krall, to the Chicago Symphony to Jackson Browne and even Heart with the Little River Band...perhaps having the 1.2 to listen to after those shows is a factor.
