The weirdness continues

I've a small system atop a Quadraspire SVT stand and generic spike pucks. Changed out the spike pucks to Quadraspire spike pucks and bang.  Completely different improved sound.  Less aggressive, better timbre and a bit quieter.

Again, what is it about the endless tweaks that can properly control vibration? Pleased and confused at the same time by the menagerie of these combinations.
