The new Synergistic Research BLUE fuses ....

New SR BLUE fuse thread ...

I’ve replaced all 5 of the SR BLACK fuses in my system with the new SR BLUE fuses. Cold, out of the box, the BLUE fuses stomped the fully broken-in SR BLACKS in a big way. As good as the SR BLACK fuses were/are, especially in comparison with the SR RED fuses, SR has found another break-through in fuses.

1. Musicality ... The system is totally seamless at this point. Its as if there is no system in the room, only a wall to wall, front to back and floor to ceiling music presentation with true to life tonality from the various instruments.

2. Extension ... I’ve seemed to gain about an octave in low bass response. This has the effect of putting more meat on the bones of the instruments. Highs are very extended, breathing new life into my magic percussion recordings. Vibes, chimes, bells, and triangles positioned in the rear of the orchestra all have improved. I’ve experienced no roll-off of the highs what so ever with the new BLUE fuses. Just a more relaxed natural presentation.

3. Dynamics ... This is a huge improvement over the BLACK fuses. Piano and vibes fans ... this is fantastic.

I have a Japanese audiophile CD of Flamenco music ... the foot stomps on the stage, the hand clapping and the castanets are present like never before. Want to hear natural sounding castanets? Get the BLUE fuses.

4. Mid range ... Ha! Put on your favorite Ben Webster album ... and a pair of adult diapers. Play Chris Connor singing "All About Ronnie," its to die for.

Quick .... someone here HAS to buy this double album. Its a bargain at this price. Audiophile sound, excellent performance by the one and only Chris Connor. Yes, its mono ... but so what? Its so good you won’t miss the stereo effects. If you’re the lucky person who scores this album, please post your results here.

Overall impressions:

Where the RED fuses took about 20 hours to sound their best, and the BLACK fuses took upwards of 200 hours of total break-in, the BLUE fuses sounded really good right out of the box ... and that’s without doing anything about proper directional positioning. Not that the BLUE fuses don’t need breaking in, they do. The improvement continues through week three. Its a gradual break-in thing where each listening session is better than the last.

Everything I described above continues to break new ground in my system as the fuses continue breaking in. Quite honestly, I find it difficult to tear myself away from the system in order to get things done. Its truly been transformed into a magical music machine. With the expenditure of $150.00 and a 30 day return policy there’s really nothing to lose. In my system, its like upgrading to a better pre amp, amp, CD player or phono stage. Highly recommended.

Kudos to Ted Denney and the entire staff at SR. Amazing stuff, guys. :-)

Frank

PS: If you try the SR BLUE fuses, please post your results here. Seems the naysayers, the Debbie Downers and Negative Nellie’s have hijacked the original RED fuse thread. A pox on their houses and their Pioneer receivers.

gdhal,

Design is all about tradeoffs. A soldered fuse just means customers and lay persons,  please keep your hands off and leave it to the pros (for a small fee of course).
Have you given any consideration to an education refresh? 🤠

Yes. I will start by reading fewer of your posts.  They are getting me nowhere fast.
There will always be unenlightened people, many of whom never want to be educated.

What education is it that is being missed in the case of the blue fuse? That people who buy them like them? That can be said about most anything people buy in this hobby.

Education is acquiring knowledge. One gets ahead by applying that knowledge better than others. Opinions are useful data points but the problem is everybody has one. I tend to bank on the opinions of the demonstrated knowledgeable (and trustworthy)when making buying decisions, not on magic as indicated by "it just sounds good so who cares why".
There is a explanation of the blue fuse on the SR web site.   Well kinda black and blue together actually.   Blue is version 2 mumbo jumbo whereas black was apparently version 1.  No need to speculate on alternate theories.
What is says on the SR web site is that Graphene enhances the signal or words to that effect. Well, that’s true, but it doesn’t say how.
Don't play dumb.  We know better than that!
It doesn’t say. So your guess is as good as mine. Tell us ! You are the one asserting its true but not saying how or why. I can’t fight your battles for you sonny.  Here is your chance to finally shine!
we add a Quantum Inductive Surface that includes Graphene to stabilize the electrical wave feeding your system for a dramatic improvement in system performance over standard and audio-grade fuses.
...
At Synergistic Research we’ve isolated key factors that affect how electricity propagates by changing the behavior of electrons through Inductive Quantum Coupling methods we collectively call UEF Tech. In fact, UEF Tech is so powerful even an electrical chain several miles long is fundimentally improved with nothing more than a single fuse engineered with our patented UEF Technology.

THis is the extent of the description on the SR site. Blue is version 2 of this and black is version 1 it would appear.

Speculate away. How is this magic done? Almarg, Almarg, where are you? Dude from SR? Appear to us!  We command you!
Uber, perhaps but it comes from the vendor. I’m sure their marketing department worked hard on it.

There is also this:

Frequently asked questions.

Q: Are fuses directional?

A: Yes, fuses are directional. Electricity should flow from the left to the right when you view the fuse. If you do not know

the direction of flow you should listen to the fuse inserted in both directions. One direction will sound more detailed. This

is the correct way.

Q: Do fuses have a burn in period?

A: Yes, most products have a settling in period. The first 200-300 hours of use of the most crucial.

Not to muddy the waters further but for example the "left to right when you view the fuse" answer makes no sense. What if I rotate 180 and look again? Do I have to reverse the fuse for it to sound best again?

My assessment is some marketing quack writes this stuff. Companies do that all the time. SR knows how to market. They always have a lovely lady in their room at shows.  Most other rooms miss that trick.

I always counsel the less said the better.
I’m sure you do.  But you sure have a lot to say yourself.

No matter what you say there will always be a bunch of knuckleheads and pseudoskeptics lurking around who will attempt to debunk it.

Don’t you hate when that happens! You need your own planet (or thread) with a bunch of hand chosen followers. Problem solved!
" Pretty big talk from a pseudo engineer "

Call it what you like but the pay is good.  Can't complain.  Add in my savings on fuses and maybe I can visit retirement city sometime soon.

Almarg,

You and I are on the same page regarding fuses. Don’t know what else to say.

Cheers!
GK

Truth pretty much always resides somewhere in the middle between  two extreme points of view.

That's the page I choose to be on.

Also yesterday  I lobed a big fat softball right down your alley to knock out of the park and impress all and  you took it for a called strike.   Like you almost always do.   You better work on your swing.

Cheers!

I did a lot of a/b testing with the Red Fuse OP sent my way and my Audio Research sp16 pre-amp vendor stock fuse awhile back. Was not blind though. No assistant. I guess I could have dropped both in a bag, pick one out one at a time with gloves on and not look which it was, but the difference I heard, if any consistently, was so subtle, I deemed it insignificant and lost interest after a couple days. The setup was Squeezebox Touch to mhdt Constantine DAC to SP16 to Bel CAnto ref1000M amps to Dynaudio Contour 1.3 mkII speakers.  The fuse that came in teh sp16 looked to be of good quality and must have been since it sounded so much like the heralded (at the time) Red Fuse.
Not one person I know in this country has the slightest interest in audio equipment.

I bet they have never seen a fancy fuse though. Not to mention one with graphene in there somewhere somehow coaxing that EM wave along. What could be more interesting then that? Just look at all the posts here! More than most anything! Explain it to them. It could flip them! You never know. Or they might have you committed. Especially if you tell them how much it cost.

If I had maybe actually paid for the fuse instead of getting a freeby maybe my tests would have yielded different results. Ya never know!

I’ve met a few very nice audiophiles that live nearby here on Agon and had them over for a joint listening session. It is fun. One day we’ll compare fuses maybe....
Maybe. Or if your hearing wasn’t shot. Have you given any consideration to getting your ears candled? 🕯 Couldn’t hurt.

My ears go in for maintenance regularly.  Don't want to miss a beat.  How about yours?
Gk if you learn to talk nice I might even consider (gasp) having YOU over someday! That is of course if you will agree to go through my security scanner and thorough sterilization procedure first. Hope those are not too many conditions! Can’t be too careful these days.  If Trump and Un can get along these days I'm sure we can too as long as you agree to my conditions.
OP thanks but once to the well is enough for me.   My fuses are just fine!
This thread is mostly the same handful of guys saying the same thing over and over.   Just throw the whole thing out.  Especially if gk goes with it.   He can't even get the story about me right.  Pull the plug!

Nonoise if you want to have a chance of being regarded a credible source you might want to reconsider hiding behind yapdogkait’s obfuscations.
" the fuse warrior that time forgot."

That title is all yours yapdogkait despite the fact you don’t even use fuses yet can run your mouth forever about the choice ones. Did you get freebie fuses as well to rave about but not use?
And in the meantime, there are those of us who are thoroughly enjoying our Magic Music Machines. And conversely, there are those who will never know because they believe they already do.

Excuse me now.  I think I'm going to be sick.

you have no respect for empirical reports of better sound using SR fuses

Why should anyone? GK and Nonoise themselves have already pointed out how unreliable listening is. Too many variables! Almarg has pointed out the many variables thing repeatedly as well. The only thing anyone can count on is the desire here to get others to buy the fuses.
I see no irony.  The fuses have just the right marketing team that they deserve.
Don't worry Mitch he'll be yapping about directionality of things that only he understands and nobody cares about again in no time.    It's his imaginary great contribution to the mystery world of high end audio.

Directionality is a big word for a yapdog gk.   Congratulations.     Do you know any others?   That act is very stale.   Also not very good to start even.   Can you say One Trick Pony?   How about nobody cares?   You need a new act bad.    Boring!  More like a parrot than a yapdog even.   When you figure out the right direction how about going there and no need to reverse and come back.   Learn a new trick maybe then we can talk.
Though, I don’t see why that level of discourse is preferable to providing a careful argument for a position.

Obviously, to anyone who can read, this thread is about convincing others to buy the fuses. Anything that does not support that goal, is a threat and must be discredited. Often viciously. Pretty simple. Hard to have legitimate discourse under those conditions. It’s also hard for me to understand what kind of legitimate seller would even want this ugliness on display regarding their product but that is another story.

Some also may legitimately be offended that others are telling them they can’t hear what they claim to hear. But that message gets lost in the flood of hyperbole.

This thread IMHO was about one thing and one thing only.

Reporting ones experience with said SR Blue fuses, nothing more at all.

If you read the original post you’ll see that ’ naysayers, the Debbie Downers and Negative Nellie’s " were dissed from the start.

Hardly the way to start an unbiased discussion.

Just saying....

Fair enough. Hey look Frank or anyone can create threads as they choose. It is what it is.
No Frank that is not vicious nor do I consider you to be.   However I do see it consistently tolerated in certain  others as long as it helps tow the line.   I won't mention names.....
I'm neither defending nor dissing all supporters nor all detractors.   The only way to learn is to have open discussion.  Turned out that way here and in fact I learned a lot.
And that type of attitude was adopted or continued by others here who fall back on name calling and negative characterizations of anyone voicing even reasonable skepticism.

Yup. But in all fairness, only a very few as I recall. One in particular but nothing new there. Just another day at the office.....  I feel bad I got sucked into it but sometimes the only way to check bad behavior when needed is more bad behavior.   Sad but true.    I'll be good again now.
3 stooges are better than one in a comedy but two might do for basic entertainment.  As long as they each have a unique gimmick.

Hey prof, you are a voice of reason.  Maybe you can settle things down around here.  :^)
Geoffcan’t has a better ring...just sayin....

I’m not saying it is, though it could be, but if a tone control, then money better spent on one whose main purpose is not to go up in smoke when called upon.
Well not hard to produce evidence these days if that is the case. Take some pictures of the fuse, put them on Google or some other site with pic sharing functionality, and post the link here, maybe using a blown SR fuse if available so as not to disturb a new ready to rumble one.

In fact pics of innards of any blown fancy fuses to see what makes them tick would be of interest.
I had a post removed too I’m guessing because I made a joke about Donald Trump’s tax returns. Not sure what rule that violates while so many rude and demeaning posts here go untouched.
