The Knopfler/Crowell/Harris connection..

I've listened to "The Traveling Kind twice this weekend. Then, I thought of "All the Roadrunning". Is this a fair comparison?

With "ATRR", Harris is mostly a back-up singer, as opposed to "TTK" in which she plays an equal musical role.

So, upon listening, one way works much better than the other, IMO. "ATRR" is sonically superior. Also, everything about it just has a natural flow and provided the end user an experience that would be hard to top. "TTK" is an enjoyable record, and these two artists have worked together many times before, yet, it doesn't have the magic that is so laid bare for us to hear. Any thoughts?

Happened to do the same. :-) Looking for recordings that are not too edgy on Harris vocals. A little hard to find. But the TTK is to me superior to ATRR in this respect and on the whole to me a much better and more fun recording. May be that I mostly find MK too laidback (non-interesting singer) and also the fact that RC is a longtime favourite. And can he sing! I find the sound on ATRR is a bit muddy and too warm. Not the reference recording it’s often regarded as.  Spyboy and Cowgirl's prayer hard to beat though.

Question. Would it be worthwile to buy Harris on vinyl. Thinking on Wrecking Ball and the above mentioned. They are rare and very expensive.
