Why guilty? I've only heard two tunes - both made me think more of glam than of boogie, but the singer reminds me of Russ Mael from Sparks. Nice flash guitar heroics, nicely produced. Not going to change my life or anything, but a welcome diversion from the cookie-cutter down-beat post-grunge boring shit/cookie-cutter hyper-'ska' fake-punk boring shit/cookie-cutter nu-metal alt-rap boring shit that rules today. Don't know if it'll really translate this side of the pond though...
The Darkness: A guilty pleasure...
Picked up this much hyped Brit metal band...and to my surprise...most of the lp is full kickass, cockrockin' tunes...comparisons to Queen have been highly overexaggerated...other than the singers high voice...this is classic boogie rock ala Ac/dc,Slade,Stones,etc...the record is not perfect...the ballads are pretty lame...but the first 7 songs are pretty cool...play very loud...production is slick in an 80s kind of way...
