The best speaker you ever heard?

In my opinion, the speaker is by far the most important part of the audio system. After all, it is the only part you hear. OK, the other stuff really matters a lot, but without a great speaker... No go.

I am a bit 'speaker-obsessed' I guess, and now I am wondering: What are the best speakers you have ever heard, and what made them the best?

just got back from the audio show in Montreal and I would
say the best was the 989 Quads.

Most speakers have anywhere from 3 to 10% distortion.
The quads have a measly 0.1%

Kinda redefines the word clean and acurate.

They did sound quite amazing.

Well it has midrange to die for.
A reviewer said it was perfect and I'd have to
agree.

Perfect!

only ceavat is that the bass dosen't slam like
Focal JMlab's woofs.

but a pair of subs/woofers could fix that for what
might be the perfect speaker.
IMHO.
