The best speaker you ever heard?

In my opinion, the speaker is by far the most important part of the audio system. After all, it is the only part you hear. OK, the other stuff really matters a lot, but without a great speaker... No go.

I am a bit 'speaker-obsessed' I guess, and now I am wondering: What are the best speakers you have ever heard, and what made them the best?

Hey Es347,I disagree.

There is so much distortion in that "speaker" that it breaks all records. It can sound very good at first but then listener fatigue sets in. The wood is highly resonant oak (actually acorn) which can add to the distortion. It uses the Spector crossover which you certainly can't trust and for the tweeter it uses the Pelosi speaker which is extremely shrill and irritating. All in all the "speaker" will probably only lasts 4 years. And I guarantee it won't be good for your health(care).
Hotmailjbc,

I believe you are thinking of the huge Infinity IRS V's consisting of two tower columns with floor to ceiling emit ribbon tweeters and two columns of floor to ceiling servo controlled 12" (I think) bass drivers. Sold new for ~ $50K. Heard them at MillerSound a few years back and they were awesome.
