The AU24 sx speaker cables might be fine then. Your ATC’s are 85db/8ohm speakers so the strengths of the A23 with higher impedence loads is less of a factor. The AU24 sx IC’s and AES cable are both fine performers.

@jerrybj I did the same thing Jerry, I purchased AU24 SX to replace my A23. It didnt turn out, however, as the AU24 SX was NOT an improvement. Quite the contrary. The AU24 SX may not be as effective with higher impedence loads (Devore Fidelity 10-12ohm) as the Auditorium 23 speaker cables. Bass and heft diminished considerably with the AU24 SX. I ended up selling the AU24 SX and kept the A23. YMMV |
What speakers are you currently using? Alot of us assume better must be better...and I have no doubt there are countless happy owners of AU24 SX BUT....the impedence match is a very real thing that I completely disregarded in advance.
Maybe cable manufacturers don’t spend alot of time developing with higher impedence speakers...frankly, there aren’t alot of them around. Something that might sound/perform well with a Wilson Sasha DAW might be inappropriate for a Devore O96. The amplifier/cable/speaker combo requires proper matching. The only thing we all discover is that there is no one-size-fits-all. Best wishes... |
