Tekton Double Impacts

Anybody out there heard these??

I have dedicated audio room 14.5x20.5x9 ft.  Currently have Marantz Reference CD/Intergrated paired to Magnepan 1.7's with REL T-7 subs.  For the vast majority of music I love this system.  The only nit pick is that it is lacking/limited in covering say below 35 hz or so.  For the first time actually buzzed the panel with an organ sacd. Bummer.  Thought of upgrading subs to rythmicks but then I will need to high pass the 1.7's.  Really don't want to deal with that approach.

Enter the Double Impacts.  Many interesting things here.  Would certainly have a different set of strengths here.  Dynamics, claimed bottom octave coverage in one package, suspect a good match to current electronics.

I've read all the threads here so we do not need to rehash that.  Just wondering if others out there have FIRST HAND experience with these or other Tekton speakers

Thanks.

Correct,

I didnt read anyone saying that Tekton or anyone else made a perfect speaker ??
Why not go on every speaker thread and inform everyone the speakers being discussed are not perfect? I think everyone realizes that.
Nitrobob,

Will be interesting to hear your comparison since Ascend is known to be a Big Bang for your buck product. I have a pair of Vapor Stiff Breeze with the Raal. They impress the hell out of me in a lot of ways. They only stayed hooked up for about a week before I put the DIs back in. I could see though how someone could prefer one presentation over the other. Trying to figure out room for a second system for them.
Give them 50-60 hours to break in. They sound great out of the box but a tad edgy IMO.

The Zero Fidelity youtube guy has another video on the DIs. He mentions that they have semi recently had a minor voice change. I believe it was something like a 2db drop around 1000hz. He had a resistor on an alligator clip guessing was sent by Tekton. Anyone know anything about this?
Thanks Granny. Will definitely be looking into doing this. Could a guy just use alligator clips to attach it at first to try it out?
Just curious Miller, have you heard Tektons Ulf or otherwise?
Not being a dick I owned DIs and loved them. Just curious.
This is not meant to be a combative post so please do not take it that way. I love my DIs with the $300 upgrade. Even more now that I have the Lyngdorf 2170. I believe it to be a screaming deal and that they absolutely compete with lots of substantially more expensive speakers.
Now I have never heard the SE. I can see the value in relation to the rest of high end audio but in relation to the standard DI at less than half the price of the SE not sure I’m getting it. Outside looking in it seems like probably better crossover components, slightly modified mid woofers, better paint job, and different voicing. This doesn’t seem to justify over double the cost to me. Very possible I am missing something and again never heard them. Eric is not real open about what you are getting for all that extra dough except it sounds better.
I did have the Odyssey. It’s for sale as we speak. Not because I didn’t like it. It has been a great match with several speakers including the DIs. My room kinda sucks and the Lyngdorf works out better. Great synergy I believe especially with a tube pre.
Anybody want to here some great slappin bass through the DIs try Les Claypool Duo De Twang. The Stayin Alive cover is great😃
Nice review Eric!

Guess the guys guys talking about comb filtering and uneven frequency response might shut the hell up!! Nahhh. That won’t happen. LOL
Over a year with the DIs here. Would love to hear from someone about more in depth differences between the DI and the SE. I have heard several say they actually miss certain attributes of the original. Is it more voiced for the typical female voice jazz whatever stuff people buy mega buck speakers for?
Not really lookin but pretty sure my next speaker will be Tekton but I would not want to give up Dynamics to do so.

If you mainly listen to acpustic I think you would be in for a treat with the tektons. The midrange tweeter array is very fast and you will hear guitar plucks very distinctly.

The DIs will be much less demanding of amplification. Which is the best I can’t say other than the Revels I’ve heard are “dry”.

I had DIs a few years ago and miss a lot of the things they did very well and they didn’t really do anything objectionable. Looking at maybe getting into some DIs again or even some Moabs in 2023.
