Technics SL-23 Headshell

Hello,
I picked up an extra headshell for my TT to do cart swapping. As it turns out, the original headshell is 9.5 grams and the new ones are about 5.6.

This of course is a big change when I have to rotate the weight to rebalance the arm. There is however plenty of range either way.

When I swapped the cartridge (AT440mla), back over to the original 9.5g headshell, I personally thought it sounded better.

I wonder if the arm/headshell design like this, in terms or mass, might allow an MC cart, like a Denon DL103 to be used?

Any insights would be appreciated.
