Technics EPC-100C mk4 questions
Anyone familiar or have this cartridge? Just inherited it from my old audiophile uncle and I know very little about it. It needs a new stylus and I’m shipping to a retipper right now but not sure if I should be getting an elliptical stylus as the original seems to be or go for something more exotic. Any information would be great!

Dear @dhcod : I have several first hand experiences with that grat cartridge. Alert/Warning for your rettiper: you have to be extremely specific that he only change the stylus WITH OUT CHANGE THE CANTILEVER that in the MK4 is very special and today no retipper can find out: the cartridge cantilever is a tube ( not rod. ) tapered boron, way special to Technics. Its stylus is not a " simple " elliptical but linear elliptical that probably you can't find out with the original so low effective moving mass of 0.055mg. The cartridge quality design level deserves a better stylus as MR or Vdh.
Rettiper most be very carefully with the Technics suspension fragility and obviously that you need too that care when mounted in your tonearm. You own a true cartridge jewel, nothing less.
I owned the stand alone version but existed a version where the cartridge is already integrated to a dedicated headshell.
