May I ask what instrument you play? If the aim is to use the recording as a reference for your own performance, I would strongly suggest that you also consider the various recordings based on the presence in the orchestra of a particularly strong player on your instrument. By default, a particularly strong player on any instrument will likely be playing on a recording that is, overall, if not the best, at least good.
Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture
What is the best recording of Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture? I will perform this piece in a few weeks and I’m trying to find some good recordings to listen to. Right now I mainly listen to the Czech Philharmonic conducted by Semyon Bychkov. While this recording has many good qualities, are there any that are better?
