Misternice, your reasons sound very valid to me, as a matter of fact, I do not need anymore resolution my self, My sound is far from analitical, However, I stride to keep it that way, great post you did, made alot of sence.
Hi sabai, can you list your componet equipment so I can get a grip as to why a Rhodium outlet sounds better to you?, I have not made my purchase yet, so your info is critical, remember, I will not stand for a forward sound,Imeadiate, in my face, etc..., that is whats said of rhoduim products, if your equipment is laid back by nature, than yes, Rhodium is a good fit.
Hi,another reason I went for the gold,I didn't really want any more transparency or possibly a more clinical sound. For my cd player, the gtx gold mite be worth a try.Ill try the pre and amp on it aswell, just to know.Keith once the gtx and new pc settle in,ill go through all the cds,put the great sounding ones to the left for this player. My not so good sounding favourites.Ive been thinking,I have got a similar cd player back home, putting on a not so revealling interconnect.Another option, isnt it,running 2 cd players.I don't want to be spending thousands more on my system to be honest.
Thank you for your welcome. I took the GTX-D rhodium from a component. It was already burned in with at least 100 hours on it. The rhodium is now installed in the wall feeding the whole system. The sound is open, warm and clear as a bell without any harshness at all compared to other receptacles I have used. I cannot compare the gold to the rhodium because I have never used the gold in my system.
But I did compare The Furutech gold IEC inlet to the Furutech rhodium IEC inlet in my DIY power conditioner. The gold came back out as quickly as it went in. It made the sound so cloudy that the music was unlistenable. With the rhodium reinstalled everything fell back into place.
I have installed a Furutech rhodium IEC inlet in my power regenerator and the sound is beautiful compared to the stock IEC inlet. Regarding the use of gold accessories, in the past I have tried the Oyaide P-079 gold-plated plug in my system -- at the wall. The sound was so cloudy that I had to remove it. Actually, I prefer cords with Furutech FI-28 terminations to most cords with Oyaide terminations, even Oyaide M1/F1 terminated cords. The exception to this is the David Elrod Statement Gold power cord that is terminated with Oyaide M1/F1. But I suspect that if it were terminated with Furutech FI-28s the sound might improve. Some of us have suggested to David Elrod that he try out Furutech FI-28 terminations on his cords. I hope he does in order to compare.
Welcome to the thread Sabai, since all of us are getting or going to get some Furutech GTX-D recepticles, can you elaborate on your exsperince here for us?, I have a few questions I hope you do not mind answering, Did you get the pre-cooked version?, How long is the burn-in proccess on a furutech GTX-D after the pre-cooked or without all to gether pre-cooked after installment into the wall for system play back?, another question, in general, will you tell of us of some sound details of the Rhodium version that you have?, Thankyou.
Welcome back to the thread Sts, I have been told by a few members exactly what you posted, Is it difficult to install an furetech IEC?, my wife solders for a living in a electronics factory, she is tops there and trains many, I have looked at the furutech IEC's and there appears to be a diagram for a cut out involved, I assume the IEC may be bigger than a factory one?, or is there a universal standard size for all?
Tboooe, yes, Melbguy1 does have quite the system, I have known him over the last couple of years or so, believe me, he always keeps a bad ass system one way or the other, I know his past equipment, and seen how his tast in sound has changed over time slightly,The Magico speakers is the first time I have seen him buy American audio, I'm sure he has had some in the past that I do not know about, maybe he will tell us all the American audio he has ever owned, would be a great read, cheers.
Hi Tboooe, I do not believe the furutech GTX-D Gold will ever soften anything up in sound, The Rhodium does have a slight edge in detail with a little more ump in the bass, but with this comes an imeadiate sound, more forward, these discriptions is what Chris Vanhause of vh-Audio has told me on the phone, and I asked his reccomendation for my system, he said use all Furutech GTX-D Gold, if you look back at some of the other post, you can see that Chris told Melbguy1 the same thing he told me, and you can see that Melbguy1 also said Chris said that their is a slight difference between the two, Rhodium and Gold, Chris has told me to use The Rhodium on tubey sounding equipment, or tube amps or pre-amps, but on tube cd-players, Chris said stick to the Gold for that as well, that Is why I am getting two GTX-D Gold outlets,In your situation, I would still call Chris there at vh-Audio and ask him his recommendation, it may turn out that you do need the Rhodium? cheers.
I use a Furutech GTX-D rhodium from the wall to my system. There is not a hint of brightness. On the contrary, it eliminates the brightness of other receptacles.
Audiolab, I will be getting rhodium. Given my speakers are a little soft on the top end I think this is the right choice for me. I plan to purchase in a few weeks.
Thankyou misternice, I do know that the Furutech GTX-D Gold or Rhodium outlets do need some time to burn-in, however, I do not believe I have ever asked Chris Vanhause their at vh-audio how long they take?
I think they should be burned in in a week, the voodoo did, maybe there is some more to come,Ill let you know if another change happens. Some of my cds have a bit of brightness too them,so ill try the gold.If I have to go rhodium down the track,no problem. These speakers are very revealing, ill try to stick with them, time will tell.
Melbguy1, That is what i am talking about, useing the 707 for two channel audio because all other krell pre-amps ever made are not as good, with the exception of the krell Evo two pre-amp that sold new retail for $50,000.00. all the channels are equal in the 707, Matjet said he runs his 707 with proccesor section off on the unit, turns on analog two channel, and bam!, He said he will never sale his unit!, I was talking about the 707 may be a fit for my system.
Melbguy1, Talking about researching, check out the Krell reference Evolution 707 proccessor and all the reviews, this unit for 2-channel reference sound reproduction is second to only the krell Evolution two pre-amp, slighly not quite as good, but close to what a few users of the 707 has been telling me on my new Krell pre-amps thread their on the amps forum here on audiogon, man, the 707 is huge!, $30,000,00 to $35,000.00 new, used market around $13,000.00 to $15,000.00, not a bad target if I can be swayed to go active pre-amps, tell me what your impressions of all you read about this unit, it's crazy to me as to why all the reviewers believe no other brand pre-amp comes close to the performance at the time of the reviews, I know, I know, reviewers do not know our preference in sound, just a good bassis to go from.
Hi Misternice, Are you saying that The Furutech GTX-D Gold recepticles take a week to sound great without the cooking proccess that Chris Van Hause does their at Vh-audio?, This is cool, all of us will have the GTX-D gold outlets!, tell us here what your impressions are with one furutech GTX-D gold, I bet it will get a little better over another week or so?, interesting the power cords you have mentioned I have no exsperience with, yeah, tell us about them when you can, that's what we all are friends for is to learn off each other, BTW, I do not like brightness ina system myself, really, I cannot even remeber when that has happened last in any given system I have owned in many years, my biggest problem I hate that I do not have, but have had before with a couple of cd-players was the imeadiate in your face, up-front sound stage, I call this a forward presatation, That my friend is a big no,no, here in my house, if any given componet does that on my cables, amp, speakers, well then, that componet is gone!, two componets come to mind that I have owned that fit that bill, The Cary cd-500 up sampling solid state cd-player and the Ayon cd-2s up sampling tube cd-player, cheers.
Hi,i just ordered the gold gtx,I didn't want to take the chance of brightness entering the system. When Im tired at the end of the day, brightness bums me out.Ill see how this goes.Tidying up these power connections has brought more decay to the notes, which is very pleasing.Keith,I picked up a cheap revelation audio labs, precept pc cable.Ill let you know how that compares to the ps audio ac12,which isn't too bad.For me its a steal,in audio,$138 I think it cost me,on ebay.I got the uncooked gtx,I like hearing the changes it goes through, about a week this last one took. The pc takes 3 days to get up to speed anyway.Have a good weekend everyone.
Melbguy1, I agree with you post, I really do not undestand why he bought what he has, like I said, he is loaded with money, It was not my place to tell him this, I believe that would be rude, or maybe arragant?, it's easy to tell folks here on audiogon, they are on a screen, but when you are in someones house as a guest, to me, it's different, now if he pleaded with me my opinion, well then, that's a whole different matter, cheers.
Melbguy1, I have known the guy I am talking about for years, we used to best friends in the late 90s untill he tried to take my krell amp that I had then when I let him borrow it for an audition!, it was an krell FPB 200, He has always had a wonderfull system, however, for the life of him, he seemed to have anamosity toward me for haveing a better sounding system than he did for a whole lot less money!, of course I had tara labs cables then too,as always, he stuck more money in his componets and speakers, while I stuck money in cables and profound resonance control I invented!, that could be the posisbility as to why he does not want me to listen to his system?, some things never change, right now he has the Rega Osirus intergrated amp that retails for around $10,000.00, speaker cables, interconnects, and power cords are the shunata research z-tron anacondas, the best from shunata research with the shunata cable lifts off the floor, also he has a awsome looking two componet oppo 95 modded by modright with tubes in the out board power supply and the spinner as well, and a turn-table that I cannot remember what it is, and the magico Q-3 speakers, cheers.
Melbguy1, Hi, Thankyou for telling all of us here that there is support in the u.s. for vitus equipment, I just got my first abosute sound audio magazine yesterday, first one that i have gotten since 1997!, I have a friend here in town where I live that has the Magico Q-3 speakers, he is a strange character, He claims that his mid-range driver is blown, this was last spring, for the last few months, he has refused to allow me to listen to his system, and he has not fixed the speakers, he is loaded with money, so that is not the issue, I do not know if his speaker is fixed now, I lost interest with tring to listen to his system because he was weird about the situation?, I did put my hands on them though, man, built like tanks is an under statement!
Melbguy1, Thankyou for the great read on the vitus equipment you gave here, very interesting, The vitus equipment is very costly!, anyone that owns some of this equipment is fortunate!, my question is, Are there service centers in the u.s. for warranty repairs or normal repairs, up-grades, etc..?, If so, How many, and where, so the readers will know this product is supported here in the u.s.a., cheers.
Thankyou Melbguy1, you are correct,I apoligize to the both of you, this thread is the peoples thread, you can talk about any cable, or componet, speakers, you like, thankyou for the Tara labs website correction of the term, occ, however, The fact is, Tara Labs has developed their conductors to be superior to the occ casting process as said on the web-site correction, Tara Labs conductors are mono crystal 99,999999% 8 nines, oxygen free, super annealed conductors, cheers.
where is your dis-claimer!, why are you on this thread?, take your conversation to tara labs, you are the owner and designer of gabriel Gold cables!, I am a consumer, not the tara labs company!, This thread is for the fans of tara labs, users world wide, and those who know nothing is better!
further more, what is funny here is Tara labs developed a copper conductor that is superior than the occ copper you are talking about, that is the sole reason they abandoned the use of occ copper conductors, if you do not believe me, read their site, and this will not be corrected, the use of the term occ was an error on the site by the site developer that is contracted by tara labs to build the web site!, Tara labs DID NOT make the mistake!, the only thing that was removed is the term occ, LOL!, everything else stayed!, see ya
If you look at the site closly, the occ is gone, it is a FACT that Tara labs makes their conductors 99.999999% mono crystal, hand polished, oxygen free,Eight nines copper!, It's still on the site, you cannot do nothing about it at all, Tara labs has the very Best conductors in the world!, why you cannot handle that is beyound me!, for your information, the only occ copper Tara Labs has ever used under license was a six nines occ copper that was bought years ago they do not use anymore in anything, you do not have a good source where your information is coming from, the reason being, Tara Labs is not going to tell you!, really, you are the cable manufactuer of Gabriel Gold cables, and you did not put a disclaimer on this thread saying so!, BTW, is a big booo, booo, not to be rude here, find something better to do than to try to prove Tara Labs is not legitime, you know, if you keep this up, Tara labs may contact you with a bad formal notice!
Great, records were the fashon way back when.Yes the stereo is getting more transparent, for under a couple of hundred dollars, not including the gtx.The rack and the electricals,I probably should have done first.Oh well, whats new.
misternice, Hi, I talked to the service manager, Ray Mulchler of krell tuesday to just chat, really cool dude, when he found out about my musician past he was suprised, and so was I when he told me that he had 14 guitars, He is 59 and has been playing since he was 12 years old, He plays through a marshall stack with a marshall 50 watt tube head, I do not know if you know about electric guitar tube amps, 50 watts is loud as hell when you turn the juice up!, Ray knew alot of the heavy metal and many other other artist I know of from the past to present of other genres, when we had that conversation, The conversation made my week, awsome!
Melbguy1, tell me about the vitus digital, I watched a youtube video of the intergrated amp you have, and the digital you getting, with the magico speakers you have, check it out, I believe they are useing different cables though?,
Sts, I have no idea to be honest where they have their conductors made at, the term, made in the u.s.a to me means assembled and enginered here, I would call Tara labs, I do not believe they have any reason to not be honest with you, report back here with your findings, that is a topic I have never thought to ask Tara labs, BTW, I talk to them on a regular bassis, cheers.
