Making Sense of … Evolution Speaker CablesExtreme Audio Systems and Extreme Performance Cables with Low InductanceAt TARA Labs, the major design goal for speaker cables is to reduce the inductance in the cable. However, there are some high-end amplifiers that need to 'see' some level of inductance (L) in the speaker cable. When the low damping factor of certain amplifiers is connected with (ultra-low inductance) TARA Labs speaker cables, the output of some high-end loudspeakers becomes audibly variable at different frequencies. The phenomenon is readily apparent, heard as bass that is soft and low in amplitude, sometimes together with high frequencies that are too smooth or rolled-off. Basically, the resistance in the loudspeaker cable should be ultra-low, and the inductance (L) in the cable needs to be low but sufficient to provide a load to certain amplifiers. There is no ideal value for (L). It varies from system to system, just as impedance varies with frequency in most loudspeakers. The loudspeaker cables carry much higher signal voltage and current into a non-linear impedance (the loudspeaker) ... so the reactive load of the loudspeaker can be difficult for some amplifiers to drive... and the all-important damping factor of the amplifier changes from amplifier to amplifier. One of the great attributes of the OMEGA Evolution & Grandmaster Evolution Speaker Cables is their ultra-low inductance. The OMEGA Evolution & Grandmaster Evolution Speaker Cables are the 'state-of-the-art' in both technology and design from TARA Labs. Its performance level is absolutely spectacular when matched with the majority of high-end audio components available today. And as with an ever increasing introduction of new components into the marketplace, we have found over and over again that not every cable or component has the perfect symbiotic relationship with each other. In these particular instances, there are some amplifiers that need to 'see' some level of inductance (L) in the speaker cable. For certain loudspeakers and amplifiers, TARA Labs has produced another addition to the line-up with the Omega Evolution SP & Grandmaster Evolution SP speaker cables. These cables are designed to work exceptionally well with amplifiers with a low damping factor or loudspeakers with a very reactive load in the lower frequencies.
I live on the Alabama coast,  I'm very glad Clemson won last night's national championship,  of course I won bet's as well,  the funny thing is, I have not seen any Bama car flag's today,  this always happens when Alabama loses!, all comments are welcome about the game.
Making Sense of …. Grandmaster Evolution DigitalThe TARA Labs Grandmaster Evolution Digital Interconnect uses a pair of RSC® Gen 3 Rectangular Solid Core® conductors.
In the AES/EBU format, the conductors are critically spaced to ensure an exacting 110 Ohm characteristic impedance; this is the AES/EBU format used with XLR connectors.
The RSC Gen 3 conductors are smaller than the Gen 2 version, and this provides a more extended bandwidth for the digital signal.
The TARA Labs Grandmaster Evolution Interconnect uses a system of woven filaments constructed from small Teflon tubes, to expand and displace the shield further away from the signal carrying conductors.
In this way, the Grandmaster Evolution Digital Interconnect is able to reduce digital distortion, called ‘jitter’.
Jitter explains why Digital cables sound different from on to another.
The most significant reason for the different sound in digital recording and playback systems is the phenomenon of ‘errors’.
The most widely known error is called ‘jitter’. Jitter can be thought of as a timing error or a distortion of the digital bit-stream within the digital send and receive components and the digital interconnect cable.
The timing errors (digital jitter) can be reduced by using better quality cable with superior shielding to reject interference within the cable.
Consumer Reviews
"Devon, these Omega Evolution cables are remarkable and in my opinion State of the Art ! These cables have added so much to my musical listening in terms of enjoyment. Every addition of these Omega Evolutions has been transformative. I started with the speaker cables and added a balanced pair from preamp out to amps, replacing WireWorld Platinum 7 ICs and Snake River Signature speaker cables. The speaker cables and 1st ICs were an improvement in foundation and a big change in midbass and bottom end. But when I replaced the WW ICs from DAC to Preamp with the loners, I was really blown away, that move completed the loom and everything blossomed. The WireWorld cables are really good cables and I could have lived with them no problem, until I heard my system with these. When I added the loners, it really took things to the next level. I have 200 hours on the loners and all around my system has never sounded better. Devon, top to bottom, these cables have brought everything into focus. Resolution, I can hear sounds and tones I never heard before. Delineation of sounds, now I can distinguish things, some I didn't even know were in the music. Clarity and cohesion, crystal clear and everything is realistically connected. I think that's a real problem with cables, especially with separate components, notes and sounds take on an artificial texture, they don't sound connected right, and the music loses its emotion. The sounds need to connect well to have emotion. And most of all dynamics. These cables allow me to listen at any level and hear great sound. These cables make listening pleasurable with all music, and I'm only using CDs right now !! My best CDs have moments where things get scary realistic. Applause, cymbals, tom toms, drums, all percussion sounds real. Flute... acoustic guitar, spooky real. These are the best cables I have heard in my system and if there is a better cable I don't know what it is and I have do desire to try and find them.Devon, these cables have really completed my system. Very glad I completed the loom, that took everything over the top. The Evolutions have given all my components their true value by allowing them to connect with each other and maximize their potential. I have never heard everything sound like this and sound this good. Nothing left to say ! – Tom G."
The Grandmaster Evolution w/HFX

The Grandmaster Evolution Series from TARA Labs is truly beyond belief. It is quite simply the new watershed in the art and science of audio cable design. The Evolution Series is in a class of its own, beyond all other audio cable products in the history of the audio industry worldwide. (Click on image to enlarge)
The Grandmaster Evolution Interconnect uses the same multi-lumen air-tube concept invented by TARA Labs as used in the ZERO Interconnects and the AIR Series Interconnects originally developed in 1986. However, the Evolution Interconnect is remarkably flexible.
The Evolution Interconnect uses the same displaced and Floating Shield design together with a new Dual Mono-Block HFX Ground system with greater absorption of RF/EMI and a vanishingly low background noise.
Incredibly, the new Grandmaster Evolution Interconnect boasts a remarkably low capacitance figure of just 2 pF per foot. This means that the new Evolution has a High Frequency bandwidth that is more than 300% greater than any other high-end cable in the world.
The Grandmaster Evolution = 2pF (cable capacitance measured in picofarads / pF)
The most advanced air-tube technology and designAll new proprietary "dual mono-block" floating ground station (HFX) and floating shield systemControlled spacing of conductor to conductor geometry, produces record low interconnect capacitance of a mere 2 pf (picofarads)Additionally the conductor to shield capacitance is remarkably low so the EMI/RFI coupling from the shield to conductors is negatedThe outer shield is expanded and spaced away from the conductors to such a degree that the background noise is at an all-time lowTwo layers of anti-corrosion coated SAOF-8N copper shieldCompared to the Zero Evolution, The Grandmaster Evolution has a larger, more complex system of Teflon and Aero-PE filaments that ensure a complete air dielectric system. The most revealing and lifelike presentation possibleCompared to the Zero Evolution, The Grandmaster Evolution has a high-frequency bandwidth that is 50% greater, with a stunning low level of background noise contrasted with more image outlines and fine detailRevolutionary liquid micro-film (LMF) dielectric ensures a linear transfer of low-level ambient and spatial information.

The Zero Evolution Phono

The Zero Evolution Phono-Cable is the epitome of high-end reference quality phono cables. The design and technology used in creating this exceptional cable, is a far cry above any other phono cables that are currently available in today’s marketplace. Extremely low Capacitance as well as exceptional high-frequency extension The Zero Evolution Phono-Cable works very well with all cartridges regardless of voltage. (Click on image to enlarge)The Zero Evolution also incorporates a “star-ground” system (SGS) with a variety of optional male/female mini-banana connections. This system is unrivalled in that it provides the option of floating or connecting different sections of The Zero GX Phono-Cable shielding system. There are subtle differences to be heard, some of which are caused by slight variations in the shield and grounding arrangements of the cartridge and the tonearm, and the turntable and the phono-preamp. As we all know, the shield/ground formats in the Phono interface are sometimes different enough to create a hum or buzz problem. Using The Zero Evolution Phono Cables’ superb proprietary shielding system, we are able to provide a method of optimizing the shield and ground system for the lowest possible noise floor in this critical component interface. Woogie59, I bought my zero gold interconnect used, It took 300 hrs of reburn in to realize most of the cable's sound,  btw, what are you doing with outlet's and house wireing?
Super Annealing™
The Super-Annealing process was developed by TARA Labs to improve the conductor’s ability to deliver a more neutral and transparent signal than ever before. Even the small differences in conductivity create audible differences in sound quality. Super-Annealing is a specialized metallurgical treatment that purifies and softens a conductor’s structure to lower it’s specific resistivity and dramatically increase the length and size of crystals in copper conductors.
The Super-Annealing process is performed in an oxygen-free environment to create an ultra-pure conductor with long-grain copper crystals. Traditional copper conductors are composed of much smaller crystals. The multiple breaks or junctions between these smaller crystals cause increased noise due to the diode effect of these junctions. They alter the flow of electrical signals and cause distortion.
Lol!, seems we have a couple of jokers here!, I will say this one time,  stay off this thread!, this is the state of the art cable's available,  if you say the entire audio media is wrong,  we'll then,  that speaks volumes of about you!, I personally have compared many cable's to taralab's top cable's,  all the choices I've listened to sound broken in comparison!
Mmm, very funny,  I am a vintage audio dealer 😎, an example of that is I have  kenwood kr-9600!, among many more goodies!
Hi calvinj, I have taralabs cable’s on my main system, that is not vintage, however, I’ve been enjoying a journey through vintage legendary audio equipment, advent, sansui, yamaha, kenwood, sherwood, nackamichi, bose, bic speaker’s, akai, jbl, jvc, technics, Pioneer, etc..., calvinj, some vintage equipment sounds better than some high end audio, I’ve keept way to much, so I have been selling some locally, soon to put some on the Internet, cheers
Hi andrew9405, taralab's is my preference primary cable's,  however,  I also like cerious technologies graphene cable's,  I will be using their best cable's on a couple of my vintage system's,  I believe they are a good value for the asking price of their cable's,  cheers.
Andrew9405, Thankyou,  Cerious technologies is a good sounding cable,  check them out,  I do believe there is a thread all about them on audiogon ☺
Hi andrew9405, can you help me with my endeavor thread on the amplifier section of audiogon?, this is concerning a vintage piece,  kenwood KR-9600?

Everyone cares  about review's,  listing to tara lab's in your own system is astonishing!, ((And you are a joke with all these negative post you do).
Zephyr24069, Allow me to correct you,  here is a list of cable's I have owned or  listened to, high fidelity,  transparent,  shunata research,  Mit, xlo, esp,  nordost, monster Cable,  audioquest, virtual dynamics, analysis plus, cardas, Jorma design,  crystal cable, purist audio design,  siltech, Van den hull, synergistic research, Kimber cable , etc...,    Sure I've not heard all cable's,  lol!, this is a sufficient amount over the year's , my preference remains tara lab's,  Also,  I will mention the world wide email's, phone call's  about tara labs cable's because of this thread has been very informative to to audio enthusiast everywhere,  It is quite exciting to associate with people that I never would otherwise,  that is my enjoyment from this informative thread about Tara lab's.
Zephyr24069, Sir, I have no control of people I have helped because of this thread,  I'm sure many more will come here .
Hi woogie59, The zero with HFX was tara lab's  original Zero interconnect,  the performance is between the zero edge and zero onyx,  the edge and onyx were introduced after the original Zero. The Zero gold interconnect was introduced the same time as the edge and onyx interconnect's, The zero gold with HFX was the top of the line interconnect until the zero Evolution and Grandmaster Evolution was introduced into the marketplace., cheers
Knghifi, The cable’s I mentioned I have either owned or listened to over the year’s, At this time, I only own Tara lab’s zero gold interconnect , omega gold speaker cable’s, and Omega jumper cable’s that I use for bi-cableing that are 10 inch’s long, these cable’s are all model matched, A complete loom, cheers
Calvinj,  What's wrong with you?, woogie59 and dimebagbirdie13 are separate people,  I assure you!, also,  dimebagbirdie13 is not new to this thread,  she changed her name from birdiemay13, As far I know,  she doesn't like posting on these thread's for owning the tara lab's Grandmaster Evolution cable's, people like her avoid's getting bashed over the head for owning esoteric equipment!, I fully understand that!, As a matter of fact,  I know plenty of people that do not post for that exact reason.
Woogie59, I  say 30% when both cable's have been fully re-burned in,  The zero gold has 4 picofarads of capacitance,  the new Zero Gold version two has 6 picofarads of capacitance. Starting with the zero edge,  zero onyx,  zero gold,  each step was 30% increase between each model. The new cable line up is substantially more,  The Grandmaster Evolution is 50% better performance than the Zero Evolution Interconnect., cheers
Calvinj,  I  am not dimebagbirdie!!!,  really!, lol!, I know people who have reading these thread's for year's that are not member's,  come on man,  you need to stop!
Zephyr24069, Go ahead, check the ip record’s any way you seem fit!, they are not me!!!!😲
Woogie59, You are welcome,  I apologize for the hostile rude few on this thread,  it's not like this normally,  I have talked to mistetnice numerous times,  tell him Audiolabyrinth said hello,  and ask him if he still lives part time in New Zealand?, cheers
Woogie59, That's interesting,  never heard of whatmough speaker's,  can you post a link or some information about the pair you have?, you are correct about testing different cable's,  I'm going to try Cerious technologies graphene cable's for one of my vintage system's I'm building,  very cheap for the admission of their best cable's 🤓🤑
Hi zephyr24069, I enjoyed reading your post,  informative,  I once used the One speaker cable's for bi-cableing myself,  in my opinion and experience,  I found running the Omega jumper 10" cable's to sound hugely better in every way than bi-cableing 8ft or 6ft speaker cable's,  at the time I bought the Omega jumper's-speaker cable's,  they were special order and was the flagship of the small cable's for this application,  they are made exactly like the Omega gold speaker cable's,  just smaller in diameter,  now, they are second in the line up,  the new flagship jumper cable is the new Evolution.
Woogie59, Very nice speaker system indeed,  congrats are in order, what Audio Research component's are you using?
Zephyr24069, HI Dave, The geometry of the Omega jumper speaker link's are exactly the same as the Omega gold speaker cable's,  so is the dielectric's, less conductor mass, however,  the signal travel's less, this makes up more than having the same mass, just as a meter interconnect sounds better than a 3 meter interconnect being the same model,  Dave,  I was skeptical of this approach my self,  took 300 hours of burn in,  but after that,  the difference was not subtle,  rather huge.
Dave, If you look and up size my avatar,  you can see the Omega speaker link's in place along with the 8ft omega gold speaker cable's 😎
Woogie59, I use my omega gold speaker cable’s on bottom post with spades, then I use my omega jumper cable’s with banana plugs from bottom post to top posts , the jumper’s are directional like the speaker cable’s, btw, what jumper cable’s did you try, what was the cost?, I am completely satisfied with my jumper cable’s, they were $800.00 u.s.d. plus shipping, this was the most profound improvement for my system over everything else I’ve done to it.
Woogie59, After painful extensive testing many various tweak's,  The best match for the zero gold interconnect's sound stage is useing a furutech gtx-rhodium or furutech ncf gtx-rhodium outlet's,  however,  just use one on whatever you are connecting the zero gold interconnect to,  in my case,  it was my digital player,  the zero gold interconnect has a wonderful sound stage, but it is a bit recessed in front,  the furutech gtx-rhodium outlet's take 500 hrs of burn in,  this gives you the proper front while retaining the depth of the sound staging,  modifies all the attributes of the cable,  incredible mid-range and bass with dynamic sound scale that is rather startling,  also running dedicated power cables in your wall is a help as well,  especially on your amplifier,  I would never use an amplifier on anything other than straight to the wall, what you get for around  $250.00 u.s.d. with the furutech gtx-rhodium outlet's is like a component change,  yes, it's that much of an improvement,  cheers
Woogie59, The zero gold interconnect you have will make the 0.8 sound broken at 300 hrs of reburn in,  just keep playing music for 300 hrs then make another comparison,  your interconnect should have come with the leads to be used between grounding station and the interconnect,  should be around 18" long,  be sure to use them,  the cable sounds as it was designed to sound like doing so,  never use cable direct to grounding station, congratulations on a fine cable you have,  cheers 🤓😀
Woogie59, You read my last post to you?, your system is good enough to hear the big performance difference between the two cable's at 300 hrs.
Woogie59, Keep me updated about your zero gold interconnect as you get closer to 300 hrs of reburn in of your cable,  congratulations 👍🎶🎵♩
Calvinj,  most cable manufacturer's you have to pay 1k and above to get good sound,  I admit,  I believe most high end cable's are over the top with pricing,  that includes high-fidelity brand, A 10,000.00 cable should be 1k by every manufacturer.
Hi tonykay, I would contact Devon Scott Dicker, The president of Tara Lab's by way of email, express your concerns with him and ask him to reply, I'm sure if he doesn't agree to accommodate you he will surely give you a logical explanation in the time of the corona virus.
Hi woogie59, How is the cable's coming along?, Any changes with sound yet?, have you kept up the playing time hour's?
The Muse Interface

TARA Labs has been at the forefront of design & technology for thirty years. In that time, TARA Labs has been credited with numerous “first inventions” in the field of high-end audio cables; Rectangular Solid Core (RSC), vacuum dielectric technology (VDT), and now we are introducing the advent of a fantastic new product known as: The Muse Interface. (Click on image to enlarge)If you could improve the sound of your audio system, what would that be?Would it be a more expansive soundstage, less glare or stridency, more musicality? There are literally thousands of component models available in the audio marketplace. And many of these components when combined together, will not offer that symbiotic relationship and sound that audiophiles are looking for? TARA Labs has always been at the forefront of technological advances in this industry, and our high-end audio cables have brought many a system close to “perfection.”In an effort to expand our product line to bring audiophiles closer to the “live-sound”, TARA Labs is now introducing The Muse Interface Sound Enhancement System. You can now add this incredible technology to your audio system and improve your sound like never before! And it works with any audio system or audio cables regardless of brand. The Muse Interface can be connected to any RCA or XLR cable termination, and what you’ll experience is a lower noise floor, wider sound-stage, more presence, mid-range warmth and richness, as well as enhanced musicality without sacrificing detail and high frequency extension. A sound that is more coherent and natural, bringing you closer to the “live-experience” like never before!*The Muse Interface is especially recommended for systems that have wide-bandwidth electronics (with limited filtering*), or with systems that use loudspeakers that have a tonal balance that emphasizes the high frequencies, including systems that are slightly etched sounding or overly detailed, perhaps with a sense of glare or stridency. In addition, we have found that when used with high-end audio systems, the effects become more apparent. Meaning the better the audio system, the closer you’ll become with that “perfect live sound.”The Muse Interface is unlike traditional shielding methods or filter networks. Even complex shielding methods still remain in proximity to the conductors, thereby distorting the audio signal. Filter networks in boxes at the ends of the cables often contain low quality resistors, inductors and capacitors to perform the filtering. These reduce RFI/EMI in the cable itself by being soldered in series and parallel between the signal conductors. This alters the integrity of the signal, in particular, the higher order harmonic structure. Using The Muse Interface, RFI/EMI is dissipated and absorbed within the Muse technology. This function occurs in isolation from the signal conductors. The signal path is not cut and fitted with additional components. The Muse Interface is extremely effective in eliminating the noise of RFI/EMI without the attendant high-frequency anomalies of filter networks. This translates into a sound that is closer to live than ever before.

The Zero GOLD Gen 2 (G2) w/HFX

One of the most successful audio cables of all time is the original ZERO Gold Interconnect from TARA Labs. The original ZERO Gold was praised for its breakthrough performance. In the Gen 2 design, technology has literally been borrowed from the famous and more expensive ZERO Evolution Interconnect. Available now is the ZERO Gold Generation 2 Interconnect at a lower price with complete flexibility and better performance than the original ZERO Gold. The breakthrough improvements include greater bandwidth and a completely new and proprietary air-dielectric construction. TARA Labs first introduced air dielectric interconnect cables in 1986; 30 years ago. And instead of using round conductors in air-tubes, TARA Labs uses Rectangular Solid Core® (RSC®) conductors which are 'seated' inside small air-tubes™. The new Zero Gold G2 makes full use of this technology.
The new Zero Gold G2 will offer the listener an audio cable that is absolutely fabulous! Extremely low in capacitance at 4 pF, with a sound that can be described as holographic. Exceptional high-frequency extension and detail, expansive soundstage with spatial cues with a bottom end that is rich and full of bloom, in addition to a substantial low noise floor. This interconnect is simply astounding for the price. And for audiophiles who remember the original Zero Gold, the flexibility of the new Zero Gold G2 will simply amaze!
The Zero Gold Gen2 = 4pF (cable capacitance measured in picofarads / pF)

TARA Labs, Inc. has just announced the introduction of its Generation 3 Rectangular Solid Core® conductor, to be used exclusively in its state-of-the-art interconnect cables.
The Gen 3 conductor has an increased bandwidth and high-frequency extension that makes it unrivalled in important test measurements and listening tests.
The new Gen 3 conductor has the same current-carrying capability of a 28 gauge conductor but has the high frequency linearity of a 40 gauge conductor.
TARA Labs' Matthew Bond explains why this is possible: “In a conductor with a rectangular profile, there is a huge reduction of ‘flux-linkage’ or ‘coupling’ of electromagnetic lines of force. These lines of force are created as the signal (music) passes through any conductor.” Bond said further, “In a round conductor there is a large center that tends to roll-off or attenuate much more of the high frequency information … this does not happen in a Rectangular Solid Core® conductor”.
The new Gen 3 Rectangular Solid Core® conductor is smaller than the current Gen 2 conductor used in most of TARA Labs’ audio cables. The Gen 2 conductor measures approximately 25 thousands of an inch wide and 12 thousands of an inch in height. The Gen 3 conductor is about 66% of the size of the Gen 2 conductor, and that it is Super-Annealed™ to increase its conductivity.
Both the Gen 2 conductor and the smaller Gen 3 conductor are said to be Eight-Nines™ pure copper, which is 99.999999% pure. TARA Labs’ trademarks for this technology are 8N™ and SA-OF8N®. SA-OF8N means Super Annealed – Oxygen Free 8 Nines copper. The term ‘annealing’ refers to the method whereby a conductor can be made softer and more conductive.
