tannoy or devore or....

Hi all,

I’m considering upgrading my speakers to something a bit bigger than my tannoy stirling prestige SE, which ive had for about 12 years and i beleive are late 90s vintage. I’m a fan of the tannoy sound, my TV system has 1980s dovers too.

Options I’m thinking about are devore 0/96, fyne vintage classic 12 (apparently surfacing in january), and some tannoy grf memory (1980s vintage) recently popped up on a local auction site. The GRF are probably a bit big, and I can’t hear them first, but they look in decent condition.

I like the presentation of the tannoys, but they are a bit small for the current room, and I'd like something with a bit more bass depth and scale.

Amp is accuphase e280, mostly vinyl from a garrard 301.

Any thoughts? Any other speakers I should be considering in the price range? I’m obviously preferring more sensitive and vibey designs.

Thanks for your replies.

My room is is part of an open plan living room/dining room/kitchen area.

The living room is 3.5 x 5.5m, but one side of the 3.5 is open to the dining which is about 3.5 square, with the kitchen behind that in an L shape, all with pretty high ceilings.

Can't stretch to the fyne vintage, but the vintage classic 12 and devore 0/96 are a similar price that i can just about afford.

It's not a dedicated listening room, so I think I'd do better for family harmony with two larger speakers, rather than 2 speakers and 2 subs. Do you use high pass filters for your tannoys or just tune the low pass so the subs only take over as the tannoys roll off?
