Ok so let me try something that may actually be construed as a contribution.
Unless you are lucky enough to live on your own with no housely or wifely constraints on how your stereo is laid out, a lot of what MG talks about is just not practical. In addition I am not about to add potential fire hazards into my home! Now I do not dispute some of these tricks may have a result but will never happen in my house.
I did hear from a member I respect that removing the cover to his 2170 did result in an improvement and again I do not dispute that occurrence. However with a pack of highly inquisitive Savannah cats roaming the house an open cover is a recipe for one to decide its open warfare on the innards!
Now moving on to blocks of wood et al and impact on sound, yes I will go ing with that too, but.....
How do I know that the new changed sounds are even close to what the artists or engineers aimed for? What if all these changes are taking the sq to areas that were never envisioned or intended?
The question is where would you stop? What is the goal? How far do you think is needed to "walk the walk"?

Yes they are a great help no doubt about it but first and foremost they have a responsibility to the company and the shareholders.
Obviously a much better customer service experience than eBay or PayPal but on this occasion it was a major problem of their own making!
Nobody in their right mind would roll out a huge change like that without testing it thoroughly and quite possibly on a beta platform.
While I am grateful that they mostly fixed the disaster I have little sympathy for their plight in this instance.

I have yet to see one of Kosst posts that genuinely fit the description of abuse towards yourself.
Granted he can be very abrasive and not all of his input is absolutely accurate but you do yourself no favours in my eyes by bragging about flagging his posts.

As far as wire construction goes I can only comment on effects seen in industrial applications although as the main culprit is electrical and/or ground noise it could be audio relevant.
With some of the AC drives we use and servo drives if the incorrect spec power cables are used it can be disastrous .
Now installers have cheapened out and used under spec cabling and we always find it.
Personally on inspection of the under spec and the correct spec cabling the only differences I can visually see are much different insulation and separation of the internal cable bundle.
At the moment I have no idea if the wire itself is different in construction, say cast vs drawn etc. Gauge is same I know.
Sounds like it could have a reference point with speaker cables, power cords and interconnect? |

That actually was one of my biggest problems with the whole equipment tuning thing of having parts scattered around the floor connected by wires, all live and exposed.
I jokingly stated in another thread entirely that if I did anything similar then I am sure one of my wayward cats would decide one or more items was either ;
a/ a good place to pee!
b/ a nice bit of plaything wire to chew on!
Obviously both could have dire consequences for both cats and equipment!
In other words not really a joke at all.
So not so much dissing the whole process of whether it could actually work, but the practicality aspect in the vast majority of "normal" households is just never going to fly.
Now differing wood blocks under cased up equipment, sure I can see that having some sonic effect AND being practical to try.

To my knowledge Audiogon has never done anything yet about trolls or trolling of its own volition.
Heck I am not even sure anybody has had a serious time out never mind being banned.
Now I do know a lot of other forums work a much stricter policy including the one I was a moderator on.
But that does not ever seem to have been the norm here,much more an open anything goes relying on basic human decency and etiquette to keep it civil.
