I am just curious....if you buy a basic fuse direction does not matter. Why is it that the SR fuses or other high end fuses require proper directionality? They don’t it’s BS posted up here by the fuser voodooist and shillers. As AC mains is just that, "alternating current" that changes’s it’s direction 60 x a second, so how can a ac fuse be directional. Even the snake oil fuse manufacturers won’t come on here to back some of the ridiculous claims posted that tells you something. Cheers George |
To all those here that are thinking of blowing a $160 on a $1 fuse, don’t!!. Don’t get sucked into this snake oil. Even the fuse manufacturers won’t post here and back the claims made by these fusers for liability reasons. The only reason a change of fuse "could" make a sonic difference, is if the old fuse (a $1 or $160) one has seen too many turn-on cycles, as this always stresses the fuse with current surge, causing them to crystallize and harden "over time" re the time laps pics of the same $1 fuse, in two different cases below. This "could" make them sound different. The fix is just to replace the $1 fuse with the same new $1 fuse, instead of blowing $160 on a fancy looking voodoo fuse. the fact that the majority of fuses are on the incoming AC line, not on the rectified and filtered DC. So correct me if I am wrong it is not the vertical rotation of the fuse outside the fuse receptacle and reinsertion of the fuse, but the rotation of the fuse on the horizontal plane while the fuse is in the holder. Please advise.Short of sticking your finger in there to see which side kills you, you will never find out which side is live, unless you are a technician with an ac voltage multimeter and have the knowledge on how to use it. And BTW!!! AC mains is non directional anyway!!! So return them and get your $600 back, and put back the $1 worth of fuses you took out, before the return time runs out!!!. Cheers George |

There are at least two ways to decide which side is the hot side. One is to buy an inexpensive circuit tester screwdriver. When touching a hot connection the screwdriver will exhibit a bright light. The less reliable method is to look at the equipment and trace the direction the current flows.This sort of info, is extremely dangerous to ask a gullible or non qualified technician to do, and it should be deleted, some one, one day will get hurt or worse. |
