Synergistic Research Mark II-S speaker cables

Has anyone ever heard these speaker cables? Does anyone know what a 8 foot pair might have cost new?

I was told today by Elliot at SR that the cables sold new in 2001 for about $700 to $800 for a 8 foot pair. Somebody somewhere has heard them, I hope.
