If you have a pair of Vandersteen 2's I don't know why you wouldn't use them. Even if they are not current, you should be able to upgrade them to Sig 1's. Maybe Sig 2's but I'm not sure. No offence to Paradigm, but there is just no comparasion; espically if you want imaging and detail. The only caution I would give is that to get the best out of them, you need to be careful matching equipment and setup. If done right, they will sound amazing.
Sunfire Tube Pre, Carver TFM45 & Paradigm Studio20
The above is my current setup for 2 channel. I also have a pair of Vandersteen 2c's that resided with this system and are still available. I'm considering moving to a newer, more detailed amp that won't break the bank. Under $1,500 new or used. The reason for this change actually is that I bought a pair of AKG Q701 headphones and a Maverick D1 DAC/Amp. They are so detailed and accurate, I love the sound. I want my system to be similar, with a wide soundstage, micro details, and body. Both my pre and amp have been refurbed within the last year, so they sound as good as they are going to get. OK, the questions, thoughts on these amps to mate with my Sunfire Pre.
1) Obvious choice is a Sunfire 300x2 amp, but again, wanted to go newer.
2) Anthem MCA20
3) Emotiva XPA 2
4) Odyssey Stratos
Any experience with the above components together, or other suggestions?
Thanks!
