@knighttodd  - I saw Angel, in support of their new album (at that time) "White Hot". Opening act was Godz and the headliner was Blue Oyster Cult. Rupp Arena, Lexington, KY, April 2, 1978. Still have the ticket stub :~) and a distinct memory of seeing the lead singer - Punky Meadows for the first time. Talking about Glam Bands. Wow! Made a statement......
I'm going to suggest two if you don't mind. Both from the early '90s and both local Cincinnati Bands that I saw many times back in the day.

Psychodots - "Psychodots"
Ass Ponys - "Electric Rock Music"
@hartf36  - The Tubes - "What Do You Want From Live" and BoDeans - "Joe Dirt Car" are indeed great live albums from two completely different kinds of bands, but both at that top of their game at the time of these recordings.

I saw the tubes within a year of the recoding of this record. Fantastic show! I had an opportunity to see BoDeans around the time of their live recording, but passed. After hearing the live record, I really regret not going.......
@mitchagain  - Been listening to Dixie Dregs - "What if" since about 1978/9. Still great after all these years, and great sound quality too.....
@stilljim  - Are you a Cincinnati guy? User name sounds familiar.......

dada - "Puzzle" is a KILLER album. Probably in my top 20. All Killer no Filler. And Excellent sound quality to boot. I've been trying to buy it on vinyl for 2-3 years. Unfortunately was never released on vinyl in the US and only limited distribution elsewhere. But the CD sounds fantastic, so there's that.....

BTW, saw them about 3 years ago for the 25th anniversary tour for "Puzzle". Was a heck of a show.
@stilljim  - Glad to hear from you. It's been a good long time. Keep in touch as things start opening back up this summer. Would be good to get some of the gang back together.
@mwinkc  - I'm a big fan of early '90's music, but I don't recall ever hearing that one. Thanks for sharing it.....
@hbarrel  - Brian Auger’s Oblivion Express -  “Closer to it” is a GREAT album. Have loved it since I first heard his version of "Inner City Blues" back in the '70s and bought the album (I still have that original). A classic IMHO.
@nutty - I love Budgie. I’ll add these 3 Budgie albums to your recommendation of the S/T album:

Budgie - "Bandolier", "Squawk" and "If I Were Brittania, I’d Waive the Rules"

OK, here's a different take on "obscure". Lots of stuff already mentioned are older, forgotten bands/albums, or lesser/not well known bands/artist. My next offering is a newer offering from a well know band from the past. It's obscure only because the band has fallen out of favor (for some unknown reason I cannot understand).

Without further ado........

The Alarm - "Equals"

This 2018 release is not quite the "equal" of some of the early Alarm albums. But heck, not many newer rock records can match vintage The Alarm IMHO. All I can say is that I own 1000+ LPs and this I've played this one as often as any of my others over the last 2 years. Highly recommended for any fans of The Alarm, or anyone else for that matter.

Link to a review that pretty much mirrors my feelings:

BoDeans are indeed from Wisconsin. Great band. Kind of an Americana-ish rock band, with Midwestern influences similar to Jayhawks, Bottle Rockets and Rainmakers (all brilliant bands). If you like BoDeans, check out their live album - "Joe Dirt Car". Contains all their best material and the live versions are superior to the studio versions, across the board.... All IMHO, of course.

@16f4 @larsman  - About Kansas City Jammers...

I did a google search and there is a YouTube video of KCJ doing a reunion concert at Gray Chapel at Ohio Wesleyan University (Delaware, Ohio). Here's the description from YouTube. Looks like they are from Ohio...

Jan 21, 2010 The Kansas City Jammers reunited Jan. 16 to perform in Gray Chapel at Ohio Wesleyan University.

This video shows highlights of the bands concert. Members Jasey Schnaars (OWU Class of 1972), Geoff Grief and Bullet Bob Thompson (both OWU Class of 1971) decided to reunite after their early 1970s album gained popularity on the Internet. In April, the Jammers plan to auction a private concert on eBay, with proceeds going to Ohio Wesleyan.
