Subwoofer hook-up question

Can the speaker level inputs of a sub be connected to the binding posts of the mains rather than the binding posts of the amp? Would the amp see a different load?

YES but do connect both speakers to the sub. Would the amp see a different load? No if they are high level inputs on the sub.
