Sub placement with Vandy 2CE sigs

I bought a couple of subs from Paul and am wondering where they should be placed in relation to the Vandys. Any ideas or experience with this set up/

What I am wondering is if placing the subs behind and close to the Vandys could degrade the sound of the vandys in any way...
