Specific performances would be great, when you have the time. I'd be more comfortable starting with known quantities to get a sense of how the recordings should sound.
Stunning Harpsichord Recording
I came across a 2008 Harmonia Mundi release of Purcell's keyboard music today, played on harpsichord by Richard Egarr.
It may help that Purcell is just about my favorite composer, but the recording quality of the harpsichord is stunning. IME the harpsichord has not comfortably translated to audio, but this recording does.
