Streaming High Res On My Lyngdorf ?!?

I have a Lyngdorf 2170 , about to add the USB upgrade....I was recommended to get a Roon Nucleus....vs just using a MacBook? Thoughts? Guessing with Mac I'd need a long cable or way to control from iPhone...ugh
