stillpoints ultra ss with and without the ultra base (that is sold separately)?

I am using a lot of stillpoints ultra ss footers but notice that the packaging for the ultra ss indicates that the ultra bases sold separately can be used with the ss or the ultra 5...

I only have one set ultra bases to use with ultra ss footers under my Turntable.....seems better still than without but have not tried them for other less heavy components.

I am big fan of the ultra ss footers (the 6 are too pricey for me and the 5 seems to have mixed reviews with my friends) but notice that using 4 ultra ss footers rather than 3 under my components other than my turntable is not an improvement....it starts to have too much bass.....seems like 3 is the right amount for me anyway....

My most recent box of footers also indicate that stillpoints recommends loosening the top of the footers when used and I had not previously done that......I am implementing that ......

bottom line the footers can be tweaked in many ways......

if anyone has tested the ultra bases would be curious if recommend getting them for all the footers I own....
