Stereo Times review on the Tekton Design Encore Monitor

I appreciate your opening paragraph, which I believe is an "olive branch" towards me. I accept it, thank you.

I don’t expect that you are supposed to know my history of reviewing. If you did, along with reading my reviews, you would see many of your concerns/criticisms (unsolicited advice) are unfounded. I have reviewed for three reputable websites, hometheaterreview/SixMoons/Stereo Times, over the last 12 years and have over 150 published reviews.

I have many different front ends composed of both solid state and tube based gear and at least 4 to 6 speakers I use to evaluate the piece of gear in for review. My systems gear and what are the dimensions of my acoustic space is often mentioned in my reviews. I do share the virtues and short comings of gear I review. However, there are pieces of gear that I find so unsatisfactory that it is send back to the manufacturer and I do not write a review. I also dislike long drawn out reviews were the reviewer tells you what they had for breakfast, the weather outside, their emotional state of mind, etc. My reviews are short succinct perspectives on the performance of the piece of gear in for reviewing.

Thanks for your unsolicited advice. I still find it amazing that you would be so motivated to write a critique of me and my writing. I’ll assume you are trying to be helpful vs. haute towards me. Question for you? Since you take this hobby so seriously and have some very strong guidelines for writing the "right type" of reviews, why don’t you become a professional reviewer and have some fun!

It's kinda sad that my intentions only were to give information on a great affordable pair of speakers to Gon members and some how this thread was turned into a critique of my grammar and writing style instead.

True, ignore them.  What really is sad is when you realize several audiophiles with great systems who you have enjoyed reading their posts for years end up showing their true colors, and it is anything but a good look.

I was over the line, accepted my post being deleted with an apology, and then unfortunately felt the need to make my point.

Seems to me that not only is this reviewer calling attention to his review but also getting free advertising for a product. I will assume that since no one has questioned things to this point I am the only one that finds this questionable. I do like the design philosophy behind these speakers.

theophile 259 posts 02-09-2025 at 02:03am  Without actually hearing the speaker system being put forward, and reading a post on an intenet forum is not hearing, all talk of excellence or otherwise is just talk. I doubt that many will get to hear this speaker to give meaningful corroborative testimony. My thought was that KEF utilised the bandpass woofer cancept 30 years ago and they do not use it now.

audition__audio 1,572 posts 02-12-2025 at 10:30pm  Only some advertising is good it seems. Mere association can be damning even to the innocent. I would ask this reviewer to stop posting in this fashion.

Teajay likes to float previews of his reviews that will come online.  I enjoy reading them and without a doubt several of his recommendations have been hits. 

After years of reading his posts, I am familiar with and comfortable with his writing style   In the end, there will be differences in styles of reviewers and their breadth of experience.  

You have articulated your points very clearly.  But I can say that after many years of writing I can only wonder at you having the energy or desire to so distinctly make your points understood.  What was actually accomplished?

Not a thing, and for that, I do apologize. I am sincerely not proud of just trashing someone else for little reason other than a flowery review of a product that I would never buy.
