squeezebox and dac Vs Transporter

I am currently narrowing down my search for a laptop based system. I want t use my laptop to rip music onto a hard drive, and then stream it to a device from another room (get rid of computer noise that way).

now what's the better option:
1. Squeezebox plus either
a. modifications (if so which one)
b. external dac (if so which one)

or

2. Slim deevices transporter

please help me
