Speakers for audiolab 9000P & Q

I've got the Audiolab 9000 setup.  I have Klipsch Heresy IVs and a Paradigm sub (to lazy to see what model at the moment).  The Heresys sound muted, not sure why.  Had them before the current set up, still sounded the same.  Moved them into different locations, as much as possible.  They sound good, just kind of muffled.  Obviously I'm no expert, just trying to see if they're even a good match for this set up, and if not, what might be.

@hardrocker69 have you used other speakers with your Audiolab 9000 integrated system that sounded pleasing?

How about a description of the room the system is in?

Are your Heresy IVs speakers broken in, several hundred hours on them?

Room is 17' (side with speakers) by 30' by 8' tall.  Couch, loveseat, big ottoman, etc.  Not the perfect listening lay out.  It's a family room.  Klipsch have maybe 75-100 hours on them.  I did buy a set of stands to get up above seating, they help.  I have a pair of Sony SSCS3s, but haven't tried them.  This is my first attempt at having a "big boy" system. Im sure it's not as impressive as many, but I'm trying, lol.  I've tried my best to do research, and don't have the $$$ to continually buy and trade/sell equipment.

you either love the Kipschs or you don't. They are better matched with a tube amp. I love Audiolab but I would not pair them with Klipsch. If you don't want to change either, then not a clue, other than changing you sweetspot?

If you only have 100 hours on the speakers, are they new? Can you return them?

@gano can't return them.  I've read plenty about the love affair between Klipsch and tube amps (all after I had purchased them). Back in the day, if someone had a pair of Klipsch, they had the best.  I've learned much since then, and even since I bought them.

@dekay not sure what those are.  I'm interested though.

I love Audiolab for the record. You could order speakers to try for 30 or 60 days if you are willing to replace them Do they sound better if you are sitting on the floor, below the tweeters?

@gano I haven't tried them sitting on the floor.  It feels weird to buy speakers or other equipment and send it back.  I have done that to get to the system I have.  I wish we had a good hifi shop in my town.  Anyway, what would you think I need to keep in mind as far as compatibility speaker wise for the Audiolab?  And thanks a ton for entertaining my questions.

@hardrocker69 I am no expert but here is what I think. The Heresy's are super sensitive. The audiolab is pretty powerful. I am not saying they are a bad match but muted is not fun, it almost makes me think that there is something wrong with either the speakers or the amp. Maybe they are not hooked up correctly, it happened to me more than once. I would listen to each speaker separately. I would try bright and neutral music.

I have placed speakers in ways that they sounded terrible but never muted. Placement is the easiest and biggest mistake.

Experts here would suggest room treatment and different cables. I would definitely eliminate first whether it's the source, amp or the speakers that mess up the highs and mids. Both the amp and speakers are high end in my book, so you should expect to be wowed.

Thanks buddy, that's what I thought as well.  I assumed I would be blown away, but it's not there.  Time to keep searching I guess.  Any suggestions on speakers that would pair well?

there is this site with a lot of speakers. I default to geography, where the amp was made probably matches the local speakers and there is a massive selection that reviewers also used in the UK: BBC speakers - Harbeth, Falcon, Graham, Spendor, etc. Mission, Quad, they all seem to be mentioned.
