speaker suggestions for Simaudio i-3

I'm looking for a pair of floor standing speakers to pair with this. I listen to classic rock (LZ, Beatles, Aerosmith) also some classical. I would like something that will give decent bass, a sub is not an option for me.
My living room is open to my dining area, so my actual living room size is 12x18

My budget is around $1500, I don't have cd player at this point.
