Speaker Placement Measurements

There are as many recomendations as fish in the sea, but one I like is the formula from Focal. It goes: A < B < C, where A = the shortest distance from center of the woofer to either floor, rear wall or side wall. B = next closest distance from the center of the woofer to Floor, rear or side wall. C = the longest distance. And lastly, C = B squared /A. Example: Center of woofer is 20" from the rear wall and 24" from the floor, then the woofer would be 28" from the side wall. C = (24 x 24) /20 = 28". The beauty of this formula is it lets you move the speaker to many different positons, all staying within the optimal space. In my own situation, the woofer is 30" off the rear wall and 22" off the floor. That puts the center of the speaker 41" off the side wall. (30 x 30) /22 = 41. Interesting that 40" from the side wall also works with your speakers 72" off the rear wall. (40 x 40) /22 = 72" Play around with the formula a bit and see if it works for you. Only the French could come up with something so simple. 🤣
