Signal cable has been around for a long time, and I had my whole system of separates running with their copper cables and one silver between my dac an preamp. My stereo system ran with Signal cable for 13 years. I upgraded my speakers, all my digital front end, and all my interconnect cables and speaker cables. I bought all the interconnect cables used on audiomart and they were all high end OCC copper - Ohno Continuous Cast copper. Note: OFC copper is not the same thing. I also added OCC copper and Silver Neutrik cables between my DAC and Preamp. After all this money spent, I did notice a significant improvement in my sound - more smoothness and better sound stage. However, I believe the Signal Cable interconnects are great for the money, but, they are not OCC. My speaker cables are 12 feet, and my Speakers are full range towers (Wilson W/P 8). I went from 10 gauge per speaker Signal cables to 7 gauge per connection using "Worlds best Cables" and I defintely got more bass and more thump - this is like 4 gauge per speaker. These are OFC cables, made in Taiwan, and not OCC, but, I like them way better than the Signal Cable speaker cables. They are cheap and you can get them on Amazon, with an easy return if you do not like them. It is pretty amazing how much copper is in these cables. Each 12 foot cable weighs over 4.2 pounds compared to 1.5 pounds for the signal cable speaker cable. They are also almost 1 inch in diameter, so, keep that in mind. Note: "Worlds Best Cables" also makes all kinds of interconnects on Amazon. For me the best ones would be the ones made with the highly regarded Mogami wire (Japanese). I have not tried their interconnects, but, If I was on a budget, I would definitely try these and just send them back on amazon if I did not like them. I hope this helps you.
Speaker Cables and Digital Coax: Pine Tree Audio or Signal Cable ?
Looking for some cables that are a good value and I've seen these two companies mentioned. My system is pretty good: Van Alstine SET 400 Amp, Van Alstine T-10 tube pre-amp, Salk HT2-TL speakers, Denon HEOS LINK music streamer, Rotel RCD 991 AE CD player, and I recently added a Merason Frerot external DAC. The Merason was a nice improvement on an already nice sound. I have a Pine Tree $45 S/PDIF cable from the HEOS to the DAC and it sounds good but I have nothing to compare to. Yet.
Can anyone recommend, or compare these two companies products ? I'm on a budget so I'm looking at the entry level S/PDIF cable between the CD player and DAC, and would like to try some of their entry level 10' speaker cables with banana connectors. Thanks.
