Speaker binding posts with plastic covers

My Krell amplifier has speaker binding posts with the clear plastic covers. Apparently these are for EU safety requirements. I want to use spade connectors and have no idea how to open these covers. I’ve wrestled with them but they don’t budge. I don’t even know whether they unscrew or pull out or whether there is some other method at play. Does anyone have experience with these?

If they just unscrew, then they are very very tight. I'll get some heavy gloves and try again.

I sent an email to Krell yesterday. Their response: "They just unscrew." So I'll have to just unscrew them. I'll try some channel lock pliers. Do you think a blast of Deoxit might help loosen it?

Yes, you're right, I posted that photo of the 0765 because I thought it looked close enough. The amp literature doesn't say whether that is the exact connector Krell uses.

The channel-lock pliers have set the binding posts free, hallelujah hallelujah! Thanks, guys!

Thank you, thank you, for posting that diagram. That was exactly the thing confounding me most. The cap had distinct parts and I wasn't sure where I should be applying pressure and so didn't want to apply too much pressure anywhere. Even with the diagram I still needed the pliers but at least I had more confidence about what I was doing.

Now that I see how they operate, I'm impressed. It's actually quite clever and secure.
