This statement:
I read that I should find an AVR with 4 ohm minimum impedence as well
Should probably more accurately be written as:
I read that I should find an AVR with at least 4 ohm impedance, if not a lower 2 ohm impedance.
. Can someone clear this up for me? What is the pro/cons of getting a 4 ohm avr as opposed to a 6/8.
If you had 6, 8 or 16 ohm speakers, then an amplifier capable of 8 ohm impedance would work just fine.
But 4 ohms is < 8 ohms, and therefore, since an 8 ohm amplifier is not rated to drive a 4 ohm load… you are at risk of smoking the AVR.
