Spatial Audio open baffle speakers, who has them? Worthwhile change from Maggies?

Of late have been eying the Spatial Audio line of open baffle speakers and like what I have seen and read so far.
Now I am extremely happy with my baby Maggies which have easily bested any and all box speakers in my room ( that I can afford anyways!).
So looking for opinions and views from actual owners of said open baffle speakers, what did you change from and what are the real strengths of the Spatials?
Not short of horsepower to feed them even though they do not need much juice by all accounts but you know the old saying, " too much is never enough!"
Thanks in advance.

Not sure on that, likely to still sound very good but maybe not deliver their best without free air around them.
Mine are now approx 4ft from back wall and 4.5ft from side walls, a recent change that is a couple inch more than previous which gave even more solid bass and mids.

Best visit AudioCircle where there are numerous Spatial speaker threads with a lot of knowledge especially on setup.
Good luck and enjoy if you enter the world of Spatial.
Mine are going nowhere unless I win the lottery...famous last words I know!
Hey!
They are well built but pretty sure if I jump on them I am going to break something.😁
Well hey there all.
Thought it was about time to update everyone on the Spatial M3 TM speakers and the long list of mods I have performed to them......

Last week I moved one 1/2".

Need to sit down and recover after that.

Probably at least 50% of is my acoustically awful room.
Regular box speakers just do not work.
And unfortunately wifely constraints mean no real treatments allowed!
Hard to recall/remember all of the speakers I have owned but many just failed to cut it for me and were always , well these are ok but.....

Maggies.

Memory does not even recall most model number numbers that's how special they were not... lol.

However in my room the box speakers were always just that, boxes, never lit my fire in any way.

Then the Maggies came along and they were a huge step in the right direction for myself.
But the Spatials are the Maggies on steroids and then some.
Same type of open non box space but more of everything.
Stage is wider and deeper, bass is so tight and deep and extended and very easy to discern notes not just oh well that's bass.
But the mids where vocals and acoustic guitar live is to die for.

So yes you could say I am pretty happy so far.
My Spatials have really opened up over last couple days.
But yesterday I made a small change in my room that has reaped huge rewards.
I bought a new listening chair.
It's a reclining glider and it's so comfortable I could sleep in it.
However the point is that it has raised me approx 3 inch and what a difference!
Soundstage is enormous and deep. Details are everywhere and talk about bass. It felt like cannon shots last night on one particular album I was streaming.

Pretty much in heaven right now.
Just a quick update.
Have got maybe 40 hours on them now and things are opening up nicely.
i had thought they lacked a bit of sparkle compared to the Maggie’s but that area has certainly improved.
Bass is very solid and dynamic with separate bass notes being easily delineated.
But what has impressed the most over the last day or so is how they now have mostly disappeared.
Extremely difficult to detect music coming from any single speaker, it’s just “ there”.
Very happy with my choice at this stage.
Lol Jond
I wish!
It seems the more time I have at home, the longer my dearest better half,s honeydew list gets!

Ozzy.
I have them and they are wired up so made sense to at least try them.
However I would agree that I think I will not be needing them once these are fully Broken in.

But nice to have options...
Point well taken.
Turned subs back on and have them barely cracked on the pot, considerably less than 1 but just fleshed the music out everywhere.

So they can stay for now too.
Right now about 4 ft from back and side walls and about 7 .5 ft apart.
I toed them in towards me some more and I got a bit more energy at the higher end with no other apparent losses.
It's going to be good.....
Sorry Ozzy.
Been sitting here and trying to stem the flow of drool.......

They arrived about lunch and quickly unpacked and setup in roughly same position as the Maggie's.

I turned both subs off before I played any music and that's the way it will stay, they have NO need of any bottom end reinforcement in my room.

Now the Maggie's may have just had the edge in very top end sparkle but as far as cohesion and body, the Spatials win hands down.

Instruments are very easy to pick out of the mix individually and the soundstage seems to extend way past the speakers.

I did tilt them down towards me slightly which got a little more top end sparkle so I need time to play with placement etc.

But overall very happy indeed.

Ozzy
They were due here Tuesday but I had a call out for work meaning not home until late tonight.
So I had them on vacation hold until Friday.
Hopefully FedEx will deliver Sat, if not be next Monday.
Sometimes life happens.... Lol
Thx Eric!
Will do 👍.

Tracking information now received from Clayton so wait is on again but this time at least I know they are on their way!
🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
They obviously do not know me at Audio Circle as they let me join!
😂😂😂
Mac

I am very confident they will bowl me over, fortunately I still have the Maggies to keep me happy for now, which they actually do quite well in my room.
It will be a most interesting comparo!
Not sure as I could handle a wait from December to now......
As some of my posts regarding others may show I have ZERO patience .
LOL.
Falcon
I will surely update WHEN they arrive.
Discovered they had not been shipped yet when I assumed they were shipped last Friday as I was told they would be.
I am assured they will ship today but we will see.
Hate waiting, grrr!
Thanks Simao.

The mental picture of your seat raised on 2x4 is quite amusing... Lol.

I will have to see where the tweeter lies on and off my maple blocks.
Well flip.
Clayton just replied and not even shipped yet... Swamped were his words.
Hopes to ship tomorrow......

Guess that's what I get for assume.
☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️
No tracking number but I took Clayton at his word that was shipping Fri ( last week) as we agreed. So knowing location and FedEx shipping times very well I expected Wednesday, then when did not show possible delay and Thursday.
However since Wednesday there has been no email response.
I try not to bug anyone by phone nowadays but may have to tomorrow if no response.

My rebuilt zx7 made it from northern California shipped last Friday to be here Wednesday morning just for an example.

Oh well it will all work out, not worried just a little disappointed as dying to hear them in my system!
Very disappointing
No speakers, no tracking information, no email contact from Clayton.

Bummer!
Scot
I already decided on the M3 Triode but the LFT were a close second and have many champions here as well.
Maybe I made the wrong choice but we will soon see.

And if it comes down to it ET factory is only about a 2 hour drive away.......
Ozzy
Sorry that reply was my sarcastic reply to Chris post above it as he knows me too well with patience level of zero.
That wait time was for the ET speakers.

Mine will be here Wednesday 😁😊
I am expecting them to arrive Wednesday next week and will be straight into the system.
Will start with them in same position as the Maggie's.

Question for M3 owners.

How do you have them standing?
I mean on spikes or iso footers of some sort?

My Maggie's sit on 16*16*2 maple blocks that are subsequently spiked to the thick rug that sits over the tiled solid concrete floor.
Start with same or?
Jackd

I have no intention of trying them with a smaller valve amp for sure.

Too much is never enough and the BAT should make them sing for their supper!
Audionoobie.
Appreciate your concern but if I do Return I would be shipping and paying for shipping via my FedEx account.
Meaning I would be the shipper and insurer so I would be the one to initiate any claims if it came to it.

Bought many online HiFi purchases and only had one arrived damaged which was successfully claimed and resolved.

Right now I am not expecting to need to return......
😎😎
Oz
Sorry busy week at work.
As I said they are just the baby Maggies, the MMGi which cost me  the princely sum of $450 shipped as dealer demo open box.

Part of my reason for looking around is still the fact that its hard to believe a mere $450 could be the ultimate end game in my room although they handily beat out near 9k box speakers .

I guess we will see next week....
Chris
At the price shipped I could not refuse!
Plus Clayton said there was a 60 day return policy to boot so if I really hate them all it's going to cost is return shipping.

The lft8 were( are) still tempting but you have to draw a line in the Sand somewhere.
I will do!
However I am away all week so will not be delivered until March 3rd.
Both excited and nervous at the same time!
Just bought Clayton's pair of M3 Triode demos he had listed here at $1995 shipped so we will soon see......
Due to room and equipment layout all speakers have to be at least 3 ft from back wall, 3 to 4 ft from sidewall and approx 7 to 8 from my listening sofa.

Hence the probable reason most box speakers failed miserably and the Maggie's excelled.
Oz
Pretty sure they are a good fit room size wise.
But it's a big move mentally for myself as have gone through so many speakers that have all left me wanting in one way or another until.....
The Maggie's.
So yes why am I even looking?
Lol.

Well must be better somewhere!
Approx 11*16 with sloping ceiling starting at 10 coming back to about 8 at my listening end
No way my room can handle Maggie's of that size!
I am very happy with my Maggie's but loath to even consider the next size up as I think would be too large for my room tbh.

I do not believe the Spatial Audio M3 will overpower my room.
Oz
You are indeed correct
I would not like to spend much more than 2k right now on a test!

My mind says that for the grand sum of $450 for my Maggies there just HAS to be better speakers out there.

But my ears and soul say, bugger that just sit down and keep on listening!

That's my dilemma right now.
Tomic
Her who must be obeyed does not care too much about my budget as long as it does not unduly impact the alcohol budget.......
Mapman
Due to room design and constraints speakers have to be in the classic Maggie's position which is why they work so well in here.
4 ft from side walls and 3ft 6 in from back wall.
I can move them forward but no further back and box speakers have NOT liked that position in my room.
Then I tried the Maggie's and it was a huge sigh of relief and finally just enjoy the music.

But my interest is piqued by the OB type speakers and Spatial Audio in particular as unlike his previous EP speakers they do NOT require additional DSP type control to smooth out the pro audio based drivers.

Low bass is not a concern with any speaker as I have two ML subs to fill the very bottom end in.
Falcon
What did you replace the Turbo M3 with if I may ask?

Unfortunately the cost of shipping is quite steep as they have quoted $250 freight to my zip and if we said the same back makes $500 so not a very cheap endeavor just for a trial.
So trying to be as sure as possible before making any decisions.
They are certainly "different" in appearance however the price is way past my budget, past, present and future unless I win the lottery... Lol.
No need to apologise lalitk!

The more information the better including other speaker brands than the ones I am looking at.

It all helps as do not want to go down another blind alley!
Thanks Ozzy
Just the sort of real world user information I was looking for.
Yes Clayton Shaw does seem like a true Gentleman so far as well.
You are correct about space, the Maggie's are 4 ft clear front and side of walls.
Already have a pair of subs as Maggie's not renowned for deep meaningful bass either.

The m3 turbos ( sounds like a BMW!) were the ones I had my eyes on.

Thank you for the feedback!
