Sound bar

Category: Speakers

Let me first say that I do realize for true audiophiles, Soundbars can be a dirty word not worthy of a response. But please bare with me as I am limited on space and options. I am trying to decide between the Bowers and Wilkins Panorama 2 and Definitive Technology SoloCinema XTR. I prefer better quality sound over the "Surround" feeling. Any though from the community? Or, perhaps am I off the mark with either?

Rocket40,

What are you looking for? As 'Lak' said, a flat screen TV definitely needs a sound bar. I have a ZVOX 555 or 580, I can't remember. It's really not that important to me because I've done the home theater thing and ditched it. I don't have deep pockets and found that while I get a lot of enjoyment watching TV and DVDs, I'd rather devote my serious money to my stereo system which is in a separate room.

When I did have a home theater though, my first one consisted of Definitive Technology speakers that I think are very good. I also had B&W Silver Signature speakers for many years in my stereo system that I think are beyond very good.

I think both of the brands will do you well. But I haven't actually heard either of these specific sound bars. I'm sorry that I can't be of any help with your question of the characteristic sound of each.
