Sony XA-7es and the 777es

Does the Sony XA-7es soundbetter than the 777es playing regular CD's? If not why can you get a second hand 777 for almost the same price as a second hand XA-7es which is much older than the 777es as well?

I've opposing opinions on sonics.
The xa7 does have variable outs and is quite a bit faster loading & playing than the 777. I've heard the 777 can take a minute to queue up. The XA7 takes a few seconds. The XA7 seems to sell for about 1100, and the 777 for 1500. I think Xa7 is the cheapest entry into a no-preamp high end system.
I mean't to say "I've heard opposing opinions on their sonics. " One guy says A is better, the other B is better.
The guy I bought my XA7ES replaced it with an SCD-1. He said the SCD-1 sounded better for regular CD's. I've also heard a few people say the XA7 is better.
