Sony made a KDF 50E2000 which had a native display resolution of 720p. And they made a KDS 50A2000 which was 1080p. I assume you mean the KDF 50E2000 since you mention 720p in your question. The answer is no, it does not accept a 1080p input according to the TV specs. But of course you can probably scale the output of any blu-ray player to 720p or 1080i, which that TV will accept.
