I have the DVP-S3000 which is the exact same transport w/o some of the added features you would not use as a transport anyway.
I had a Rega Planet prior to the current Roksan Caspian and both of these units sounded much more like analog than the Sony ever did.
My advise is use it as a DVD player for HT and that is all... One could get the Palnet for $400.00 here on Audiogon if you look long enough.
