You probably just need to try it both ways and see which you prefer. It's generally best to keep the chain as short as possible, but I don't know how good the RCA's out from the Sonos are supposed to be. My gut feel is that option two may be best. I also have the 805 in my A/V setup and its pretty damn good for an all in one receiver.

While I'm still noodling over which external dac to buy, I wonder what the best near term option might be sound wise to connect my music library connected via sonos to my lfd integrated amp.
Option 1: sonos RCA out -> lfd -> speaker
Option 2: sonos digital out -> onkyo 805 pre out -> lfd -> speaker
Any thoughts?
