Why wouldn't an exhibitor at a trade show trick out the system a little bit? This is nothing new. The rooms are hard enough to get sounding right, so every little bit helps.
I remember the first time I heard the ARC REF-75 with the KT150s installed. It was at an audio show. I already owned a REF-75 with the stock KT120s. The dealer at the show had replaced the stock tubes with th KT-150s, which I picked up on immediately upon entering the room. I asked the dealer what he did, and he pointed out the new tubes. No big deal. When I got home I called Upscale Audio and ordered four KT-150s for myself. Nice improvement to be had there.
How can I get more of that stuff called ... "voodoo snake oil?

^^^ Georgie-Porgie has one major flaw ... its called "lack of credibility." He constantly accuses me, and others, of being a "shill" for SR, and as of this date, he has not responded, nor even acknowledged the post I made earlier in this thread: georgehifi ... If you were to become a more astute observer, and stow your animosity for a time, you would know that I have started threads on a multitude of products. Did you read my threads on Audio Research products? How about Herbie’s products, or Perfect Path Technologies products? Have you taken advantage of any of the multitude of music recommendations I’ve offered on this site over the years, George?
Why the silence, George? Why are you continuing to spew negativity all over the path you walk? Turn the telescope around, George. Try to be a more positive individual, George. (Sheesh!) Cheers .... Frank |

rodman99999 ...
I'd love to see you experiment with the new Synergistic Research ORANGE fuse and report your findings here. At $159.99 it's a bargain in my estimation. And ... there's that generous 30-day guarantee to consider as well. Frank |

thecarpathian ... Herbal substances are not necessary in order to enjoy music and the great artists that bring it to us. Personally, I think our hearing is more astute with a sober mind. Maybe a glass of wine or two will seem to enhance the music, but it is most likely an illusion. Same with MJ. I DO have friends that tell me that being under the influence of MJ is like adding 100K to the system though. MJ is not for me. I tried it once when I was younger ... it made me want to rape and kill. Here’s an album that will tickle your eardrums: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QSWVyXc7ioY&list=RDQSWVyXc7ioY&index=1 Frank |
- "It has to be O.C.D. Nothing else can explain it."
Maybe it is just his refusal to take the meds. |
See ... that deletion really screwed things up. Now we can't see what teo was responding to. Must have been a real dig to elicit this: - "intractable, incurable circular psychopaths."
I hope teo won't be offended if I steal it and use it elsewhere, like in some of the political forums I visit. It's brilliant and suits so many, so well. Frank |

ps ...
I don’t doubt your experience with the fuses you tried.
On the other hand, I’ve been using after-market fuses for years now, and have yet (knock on wood) had one blow. Also, each incarnation of fuses improved the sound substantially over the ones they replaced. For the improvement they bring, considering their price, compared to many other tweaks that are marginal in any improvement they bring to the table, are a good value.
Full disclosure ... some on this forum are sorely lacking in a sense of humor.

Anyone want to venture a guess as to who he really was? |
I think George is on a long "business trip." |
jkuc ...
I have the SR Orange fuses throughout the system at this point. Love 'em. Frank |
jkuc ... - "Frank, you were involved in evaluation process of the prototype SR Orange. This reduces credibility of your statements but thanks for admitting your participation.
- I'd like to hear about the Orange from other persons, unbiased, less euphoric.."
Wait ... didn't you ask me this direct question, or am I missing something? - "Papa, what fuses are you using now? You were advertizing some prototype fuses, much better then SR Blue. Is it Orange or the other "prototype" fuse?"
Now I'm confused. Is there another "Papa" lurking around here? Frank |
Well, this is refreshing. My thanks to whoever is responsible for reopening the thread.
The three prototype fuses (SR Purple) are broken in now, and the system has never sounded better. Since the time that the thread was closed, I received another product to try out. This was a major improvement, and the fuses continued to stay out of the way of the music. What a midrange!
|
simguy ... They sounded really good right out of the box. Much better than the SR Orange fuses they replaced. They continued to improve over about 50 hours or so. I think you'll like them a lot better than the SR Orange fuses, and that's saying a lot because as you know, the Orange fuses are not chopped liver. :-) Frank |
femoore12 ... You're welcome ... Your choice where to start, but I've always started with the line stage as everything that is plugged into it is affected, including the amp. For the price difference, I would go for the SR Purple fuse. As stated above, it was a substantial improvement over the SR Orange fuses that they replaced. Frank |
To the Moderator who took down my lengthy response to the member who posed this question: - "In your own words, can you describe the sonic difference(s) between SR Orange vs. Purple? Feel free to cite musical passages that explain the context. This is something that is not provided readily over on the QSA thread(s)."
I spent an inordinate amount of time composing the response. I went into great detail. There was nothing in the post except me relating my experiences between two fuses, made by the very same manufacturer. There were no bitter words, no personal attacks, and it was certainly not an advertisement in any way. Please contact me via PM so that I can gain an understanding of what is going on here. Thanks for your response in advance. Frank

Thanks, guys. To date, no explanation has come forth.
My two-word comment above to nonoise was deleted too. All it said was: "Thanks, nonoise."
Question ... how does saying "thank you" to someone violate forum rules?
Frank |
nonoise ... Thanks for the post. Something that the administration should be mindful of is that while SR doesn't sell, or advertise directly on A'gon, his dealers certainly do. Just a thought. Frank |
