There are several such sites, Magnatune.com (which allows lossless downloads in WAV or FLAC) and hdtracks.com (which offers 24/94 downloads) are two examples. You can also get higher-quality MP3's from iTunes. Check the archives for more download sites.

Depending on what you are going to play the CD-R in, you will most likely have to convert the files to WAV prior to burning the CD.

Here is a really great site for learning about computer audio. Among other things, there is a "Music" link that contains multiple sources for downloading lossless files.
