So are W63rd Blue Notes like rookie cards?

At first I thought the w63rds were the BEST recordings, deep groove and all, but after looking at a couple of web pages it seems that there are records that are sonic equals . So do these original 1st pressings, like the mobley soul station on ebay, recieve such high bidding because of collector instincts rather than audiophile ones?

i understand the collector mentality, i've spent lots on baseball cards, so please don't view this as a "I can't believe people spend this much money on a record!" thread.
